HPD STAFF NEWS
Dean Baker has joined HPD as our new Architectural Review Officer for transportation enhancement projects. Dean has a Masters in Heritage Preservation from Georgia State University and a Masters in City and Regional Planning from the College of Architecture, Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture, Clemson University, South Carolina. He has worked in planning and preservation at the local government level, with the cities of Roswell and Woodstock and, more recently, as conservation consultant for the New Zealand Historic Places Trust, Northern District Auckland, New Zealand. NEW NTHP PROGRAM FOR ASSOCIATE SITES
The National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) is accepting applications for its Historic Artists' Homes and Studios group of Associate Sites. The expansion of these historic sites is made possible by a $350,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation awarded earlier this year to identify and preserve American art-related historic sites and collections. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR ASHANTILLY CENTER
Executive Director position for Ashantilly Center, a new and developing educational center located in the coastal Georgia city of Darien, McIntosh County. The director will oversee the restoration of the House, Gardens and historic Print Shop. Responsibilities include: performing major fundraising for the site through grants, events, and membership drives; acting as liaison to the community; developing educational programming suitable for schools, potential donors, and civic groups; overseeing the training of volunteers. The director will also be responsible for preparing the site to open to the public. Requirements: B.A. in Liberal Arts preferably in related field (History, Museum Studies, Historic Preservation); some on-the-job experience a plus.
