MAY IS HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH IN GEORGIA!
The Heritage Marketing Group presented its latest "Places of the Past" brochure during a reception at the Atlanta Cyclorama on May 8. HPD director Ray Luce read the state proclamation signed by Governor Barnes the following morning. The Heritage Marketing Group is comprised of representatives from house museums and other history-related Atlanta area venues. The "Places of the Past" brochure highlights these venues and promotes heritage tourism in Georgia. Please email Arts Atlanta at ArtsA@acvb.com if you would like a copy. EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH RESTORATION
The Ebenezer Baptist Church at Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site is currently being restored as part of a $1.6 million Phase I project. The historic church will be closed to the public through December 2001. Visit their Web site at www.nps.gov/malu/home.htm

HPD - SURVEY AND REGISTER SPECIALIST POSITION AVAILABLE
The Historic Preservation Division is recruiting qualified candidates for the position of Survey and Register Specialist (Historic Planner Associate). This is a permanent, fulltime, fully benefited position in the Survey and Register Unit of the state historic preservation office. The Survey and Register Unit is responsible for identifying and evaluating historic resources in all Division programs and for managing the historic survey and Georgia/National Register programs. The Survey and Register Specialist is responsible for providing support services to staff and programs in the Survey and Register Unit:
