GEORGIA HISTORIC RESOURCES SURVEY
HPD anticipates a $27,000 fund for surveys for SFY 2002. Work must be completed by June 30, 2002. Priorities for projects are development pressure, lack of, or incompleteness of, an existing survey, and direct links to other preservation or planning activities. Countywide surveys are emphasized, but surveys of communities and surveys with broad regional or statewide benefits are also eligible. These surveys do not require matching funds, but sponsoring groups are encouraged to obtain local money and in-kind contributions for the projects. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 1, 2001. Anyone interested in sponsoring a survey may contact Kenneth Gibbs at 404/651-6432 for more information.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND GRANT APPLICATION AND NATIONAL PARK SERVICE END OF YEAR REPORT
HPD has submitted the annual grant application package to NPS for the FFY 2001 grant cycle. This year's amount is $881,421, almost $130,000 more than last year's appropriation. The increased amount is a direct result of advocacy efforts associated with the Conservation and Reinvestment Act (CARA) under consideration by Congress during the past several months.
