NEW STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLAN NOW ONLINE
"From the Ground Up: A Preservation Plan for Georgia, 2001-2006 is now available on HPD's Web site at www.gashpo.org under "2001-2006 State Plan." This publication is the culmination of a year long formal process that included: soliciting input from HPD's constituents as well as staff analysis of preservation programs, issues and projects; confirmation of long-range goals; and the identification of objectives and annual action plan items. Completing a five-year plan is a program requirement for participation in the national historic preservation program and a condition for continued grant eligibility through the Historic Preservation Fund.

GEORGIA'S AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE STUDY AVAILABLE ONLINE
HPD is pleased to present "Tilling the Earth: Georgia's Historic Agricultural Heritage," a statewide thematic study or "historic context" on Georgia agriculture prepared by New South Associates, Inc. of Stone Mountain. This unique report presents an overview of Georgia's agricultural history, a discussion of the types of buildings, structures, sites, and landscapes associated with that history, guidelines for applying the National Register Criteria for Evaluation to agricultural resources in Georgia, directions for researching agricultural properties, and recommendations for future actions to further enhance our understanding and appreciation of Georgia's agricultural heritage. "Tilling the Earth" is available on HPD's Web site at www.gashpo.org under "Publications."
