STATE STEWARDSHIP PRESERVATION AWARDS PROGRAM
The State Stewardship Preservation Awards Program recognizes outstanding leadership and achievement in historic preservation stewardship of state-owned or administered properties. Nominees must be current state employee(s) who have made significant contributions to the identification, evaluation and preservation of historic properties either owned or otherwise administered by the state or affected by state projects. The nominees' contributions may be local, regional or statewide in scope. Significant contributions may include, but are not limited to: rehabilitation of historic buildings, survey and research, preservation plans, maintenance and upkeep of historic properties, archaeological studies, publicity and outreach programs, education and interpretive displays, publications, etc. The awards will be presented at the 2002 State Historic Preservation Conference in Macon on March1. TAX INCENTIVES COORDINATOR JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Tax Incentives Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of state and federal Tax Incentives Programs for the rehabilitation of historic buildings. Directs and coordinates the tax certification process for reviewing the significance and rehabilitation of historic buildings. Works closely with Historic Preservation Division staff, project applicants, and the National Park Service. Develops information related to preservation tax incentives and other economic benefits of historic preservation. Conducts program presentations and workshops.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION INTERN NEEDED
The South Georgia Regional Development Center (SGRDC) serves 10 counties comprising 3,500 square miles with a population of 227,000. The intern would assist the Historic Preservation Planner with a new project - the South Georgia Historic Rural Schools Initiative. The project will involve: identifying historic schools within the region; making local contacts; researching the history of the school buildings; preparing architectural descriptions; assisting with a Multiple Property National Register Nomination; determining potential new uses and evaluating community needs; and identifying potential funding sources and investors. The intern will also have the opportunity to be involved with local historic preservation commission meetings, assisting Main Street and Better Hometown communities, and providing design assistance and technical support to the region's local units of government. Candidates must have a solid knowledge of architectural history and styles, strong writing and organizational skills, enthusiasm, be self-motivated, and willing to work with a variety of people.
