Weekly Report June 23-29, 2013
This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Section.

Region I- Calhoun (Northwest)
BARTOW COUNTY On June 29th, Sgt. Mike Barr and Intern Walker Jardine were patrolling Allatoona Lake near Allatoona Landing. They noticed an unusual vessel passing which was a converted pontoon boat. The boat had been converted with a pirate ship theme complete with a sail, pirate flags, what appeared to be fake cannons on the bow of the boat. Yet another example of the many interesting sights on Allatoona Lake.
CHEROKEE COUNTY On June 28th, RFC Hendrix completed the investigation of a drowning on Allatoona Lake that occurred on June 4th. The female victim was pulled from the water near Owl Creek. She was revived and transported to Kennestone Hospital where she stayed in the intensive care unit for 2 days. She was removed from life support and later passed away. The coroner reported that the official cause of death was lack of oxygen to the brain from a near drowning incident. On June 29th, Cpl. Byron Young, RFC Bart Hendrix, RFC Brooks Varnell, and Ranger Zack Hardy responded to a boat crash on Allatoona Lake in the area known as the "S turns". One boat was attempting to pass another and then turned in front of the second boat leading to a crash. There were no injuries in the incident but both boats had fiberglass damage. The operator of one of the vessels was found to have failed to" give

way" to the other vessel. The operator was charged with violation of the rules of the road on the water. For more information on the proper rules of the road and navigation on the water or to take a free boating safety course, go to www.goboatgeorgia.com.
FANNIN COUNTY On June 28th, Sgt. John VanLandingham and RFC Cody Jones arrested a female on the shore of Lake Blue Ridge who had two outstanding arrest warrants for disorderly conduct.
On June 28th, Sgt. John VanLandingham and US Forest Service Officer Mike Tipton arrested a female on the shore of Lake Blue Ridge for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
On June 29th, Sgt. John VanLandingham and RFC Cody Jones patrolled Lake Blue Ridge. The officers conducted 9 vessels stops and addresses several issues including operating with registration, violation of rules of the road, and operating a PWC within 100 feet of a person in the water.
GILMER COUNTY On June 23rd, Cpl. James Keener and Sgt. John VanLandingham were patrolling along the Ellijay River when they arrested a man for possession of methamphetamines. Later the same day, both officers responded to a report of a half-clothed man that had come out of the Cartecay River onto private property. An investigation revealed that the man had fallen of a tube on the river, lost his shorts, and was unable to get back with his party. The officers assisted with the man's return to his family.
On June 29th Cpl. Casey Jones and Cpl. James Keener conducted 9 vessel stops on Carters Lake. The officers addressed numerous violations including operating vessel with insufficient PFD's, operating vessel without registration and fishing without license.
Region II- Gainesville (Northeast)
DEKALB COUNTY On June 27th, RFC Mitchell Crump presented a Boating Safety program to the employees of Georgia Power at their monthly safety meeting.
FORSYTH COUNTY On June 25th, Sgt. Lee Brown was contacted by the DNR Marine Theft Unit reference a stolen PWC that was located in Forsyth County. Sgt. Brown along with RFC Mitchell Crump and two Forsyth County deputies located the stolen PWC. The PWC was recovered and turned over to Hall County.

GWINNETT COUNTY On June 23rd, Cpl. Eric Sanders patrolled the Chattahoochee River. During the patrolled one subject was issued a citation for possession of marijuana. Citations and warnings were issued for fishing without a license, fishing without a trout license, fishing with illegal bait and PFD violations.
On June 24th, Cpl. Sanders presented a program to a group of Cub Scouts on the duties of a Conservation Ranger and how to build wood duck boxes.
On June 27th, Cpl. Adam Loudermilk and RFC Mitchell Crump represented DNR at the Water Safety Task Force meeting held before every major holiday on Lake Lanier.
ROCKDALE COUNTY On June 24th, Cpl. Eric Sanders conducted an HIN inspection at the Georgia International Horse Park. A total of 23 boats were inspected.
Later in the day Cpl. Sanders answered a call of an injured deer. Cpl. Sanders was able to locate the deer and remove it from the complainant's house.
LAKE LANIER On June 23rd, Sgt. Lee Brown, RFC Barry Britt and RFC Eric Isom investigate drowning that occurred on Lake Lanier. The subject was recovered after a short search by the Hall County Fire Department Dive Team.
On June 23rd, Sgt. Lee Brown and RFC Barry Britt issued warnings and citations for fishing without a license and operating a vessel with insufficient PFD's.
On June 23rd, Sgt. Lee Brown and RFC Barry Britt received a call from Forsyth County 911 about a capsized boat. The rangers responded to Four Mile Creek and found a 14' Jon boat that had been capsized with three persons onboard. The rangers were able to assist them with getting the boat righted up. The boat was towed to Six Mile Creek boat ramp.
On June 25th, Sgt. Lee Brown and RFC Mitchell Crump patrolled Lake Lanier. During the patrol the rangers issued written warnings and citations for operating a vessel without the registration numbers displayed failure to obey regulatory marker and operating a vessel with insufficient PFD's.
On June 28th, Cpl. Adam Loudermilk and RFC Mitchell Crump patrolled Lake Lanier. The rangers issued warnings and citations for failure to obey regulatory maker, allowing an underage child to ride in a moving vessel without wearing a PFD and other boating violations.

On June 29th, Cpl. Eric Sanders and RFC Mark Stephens investigated two different boating accidents. One involved a subject breaking their nose while tubing and the other accident was a subject that fell in the boat hitting their head. The two accidents are still under investigation.
On June 29th, Cpl. Jason Roberson and RFC Mitchell Crump patrolled Lake Lanier. Warnings and citations were issued for violation of the 100' law, riding the gunwale, operating a vessel without having the registration displayed and for operating a vessel with improper registration.
On June 29th, RFC Barry Britt and Ranger Shane Brown patrolled Lake Lanier. Written warnings were issued for operating a vessel with insufficient PFD's and towing a skier after sunset.
RABUN On June 19th, during a rafting expedition down the Chattooga River a Florida man was reported to have fallen overboard and did not re-surface. Since that date Officers from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, US Forest Service, Rabun and White County Fire Rescue, Oconee, Pickens and Anderson South Carolina Fire/River Rescue, Greenville County Sheriff's Office Aviation, River guides in rafts and kayak and specialty groups are all assisting with the recovery effort for the victim. Captain Thomas Barnard, RFC Chad Chambers and RFC David Webb along with Georgia DNR's aviation unit have also been assisting South Carolina with the recovery efforts. Since the incident occurred there have been more than 200 people participating in the recovery efforts, but due to extremely hazardous river conditions the recovery of the Florida man's body have been hampered.
TOWNS On June 26th, Cpl Jesse Cook along with members of the Hiawassee River Watershed Coalition and members of the Group Total Abandonment which is a group of High School thru College students from Oklahoma City, Texas, Mississippi and other states that come together to do projects for different locations throughout the United States. Cpl Cook and the members of the Hiawassee River Watershed Coalition was assisted by nearly 300 students that converged on Hiawassee for a cleanup day to rid the city and surrounding Lake Chatuge of unsightly and unhealthy trash. These students were all highly motivated and were there for a purpose.
UNION COUNTY On June 24th, RFC Dyer patrolled Coosa River and the Nottely River for boating and fishing violations with the DNR River Boat. A citation was issued for Non Res fishing W/O license. While on patrol RFC Dyer located an illegal burn behind a resident. RFC Dyer documented the illegal burn and made to owner put it out. A warning was issued since the illegal burn had just been started.

On June 28th, RFC Dyer patrolled Nottely Lake's boat ramps by land for illegal boating / fishing. RFC Dyer gave verbal guidance for improper safety equipment for a vessel at Jacks Creek Boat Ramp. The subjects had a friend bring the correct equipment before the subject launched their boat.
On June 29th, RFC Dyer and Union County Deputy Sheriff Kaylor patrolled Nottely Lake for boating and fishing violations. Citations, warnings and verbal guidance were given for violation of the 100' law, violation of the rules of the road and failure to obey regulatory markers.
HALL COUNTY On June 23rd, Corporal Jason Roberson patrolled Lake Lanier and arrested one subject for Operating a vessel under the influence and child endangerment.
On June 23rd, RFC Eric Isom Patrolled Lake Lanier. During the patrol he arrested one person for operating a vessel under the influence.
Region III- Thomson (East Central)
RICHMOND COUNTY June 29, Cpl. Ben Payne and Tech 3 Steve Kyles patrolled the Savannah River in Richmond County for Operation Dry Water. Several boats were stopped during the day with only minor violations. Only one boat had alcohol on board with a sober driver.
ELBERT COUNTY On Friday June 28, Cpl. Julian Wilkins and RFC Tim Butler patrolled Lake Russell. The violations encountered were; operating PWC while not wearing life jacket, allowing subject to ride on bow of vessel, towing skier after sunset and several violations of improper lights during hours of darkness.
On Saturday June 29, Cpl. Julian Wilkins and RFC Phillip Nelson patrolled Lake Russell. The violations encountered were; towing skier without mirror or observer, allowing underage in moving vessel while not wearing life jacket and two vessels with no fire extinguisher on board.
BURKE COUNTY On June 29, RFC's Jeff Billips and Grant Matherly patrolled the Savannah River as part of Operation Dry Water. Billips and Matherly checked numerous boaters and fishermen. Written warnings were issued for underage person not wearing PFD and no throwable device on board vessel.
On June 30, RFC Jeff Billips and Wildlife Technician Steve Kyles patrolled the Savannah River and checked boaters and fishermen. No violations were detected. Kyles and Billips assisted Sardis Police Officer Mark Gatlin clearing a business that's burglar alarm was set off by strong winds.

Region IV- Macon (West Central)
BALDWIN COUNTY On June 26th, RFC Keith Page and his K-9 Drake responded to a call from the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office regarding an aggravated assault case that occurred on June 24th. During the altercation between two men, a semi-automatic handgun was fired and thrown into a thick stretch of woods. Inclement weather kept RFC Page and Drake from responding the following day. However, once RFC Page and K-9 Drake arrived to the scene on the 26th, Page checked the wind direction and deployed Drake downwind from the area that the gun was thought to be in. After about 10 minutes of searching, K-9 Drake gave a positive response to RFC Page that he had located the gun. Page immediately notified the investigators and the gun was then photographed and bagged as evidence. Because of the thickness of the wooded area, it is highly unlikely that investigators would have been able to locate the weapon without the assistance of DNR K-9 Drake.
On the afternoon of June 28th, Corporal Josh Copelan, Ranger Matt Johnson, Sergeant Bo Kelly, Captain Steven Turner and Captain Bob Lynn assisted the Ocmulgee Drug Task Force with a search warrant at an address in south Milledgeville. The Rangers provided woodland surveillance as well as aviation support for the detail. An active meth lab and

quantity of methamphetamine was seized and one subject was arrested for felony drug charges.
BUTTS COUNTY On June 23rd, RFC Keith Page and Corporal Tony Wynne were patrolling the South River north of Lake Jackson. RFC Page noticed two men fishing from a dock where they had never seen anyone fishing from before. Thinking that the men may not have had permission to be there, the Rangers approached the dock. As soon as the men could tell they were being approached by law enforcement, they both ran away from the scene, leaving all of their fishing gear and personal items behind. Once the Rangers got to the bank, RFC Page chased the men through a swamp, towards the nearest neighborhood on Southern Shores Drive. RFC Page found three witnesses that stated that one man made it to a house and the other had left the scene in a truck. Page and Wynne made contact with the homeowner and she was able to get her son to come outside. RFC Page also got the man to call his friend on the phone and got him to return to the scene. After talking to the men, it was found that they ran because they did not have valid fishing licenses. Page and Wynne also found drugs (ACID and Marijuana) in the belongings of one of the men. Both men were arrested and charged with interference with the performance of a ranger's duties. One of the men was also charged with felony "Violation of Georgia's Controlled Substance Act" and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. The man that was charged with the illegal narcotics was also found to have multiple felony warrants out of Atlanta for possession of illegal narcotics with intent to distribute and possession of synthetic narcotics.
COWETA COUNTY On Friday, June 28th, Sergeant Brent Railey patrolled the Highway 16 boat ramp on the Chattahoochee River, as well as Chattahoochee Bend State Park. He checked one boat.
On Saturday, June 29th, Sergeant Brent Railey patrolled Coweta County. He checked several creek bridges that were popular fishing spots, as well as the Highway 16 boat ramp and park and Chattahoochee Bend State Park. He also patrolled a fishing without permission complaint in the northern part of the county. He checked 5 boats and 2 fishing licenses.
On Saturday, June 29th, Corporal Keith Waddell and Corporal Travis Sweat patrolled the Chattahoochee River from Chattahoochee Bend State Park to north of Hwy 16 bridge as part of Operation Dry Water. They checked 15 boats and wrote one citation for a PFD violation and two warnings. They checked 15 boats total.
HARRIS COUNTY On June 29th, Corporal Jeremy Bolen, and Corporal Mitch Oliver performed a boating patrol on Lake Harding. The officers noticed a pontoon boat's navigational lights were cut off as the boat was going up the lake. The officers stopped the pontoon boat and informed the operator about the navigational lights. Corporal Bolen detected an odor of alcohol coming from the operator. Field sobriety exercises later determined that the

operator was under the influence of alcohol. The operator was arrested and later transported to the Harris County Jail.
JASPER COUNTY On June 26th, RFC Freddie Hays and Georgia Power employee Doug Ellis presented a boating safety program at the FFA Camp during their annual Wildlife Camp. There were 103 youth in attendance at the program. RFC Hays explained the importance of wearing PFD's while boating and told them about new changes to the boating safety laws.
On June 29th, RFC Hays and Sergeant Tim Kendrick responded to a call of two people that were floating down the Ocmulgee River that had gotten out of the river and started walking back to their vehicle. Their vehicle was several miles back upstream and while they were walking they had gotten lost along the river on a hunting club that was adjacent to the river. RFC Hays and Sergeant Kendrick searched for several hours before locating the two individuals across the river on the Butts County side of the Ocmulgee River. RFC Hays provided the subjects with some water and was able to walk them out to a nearby road where Sergeant Kendrick was waiting with one of the subject's mother.
LAMAR COUNTY On June 29th, RFC Keith Page met Corporal Tony Wynne at a residence on Norris Road to assist with following up on a boat accident that supposedly occurred on High Falls Lake. Before arriving at the residence, Page and Wynne verified that the two men they wanted to talk to had outstanding arrest warrants. One man was wanted by Spalding County for traffic offenses and the other was wanted by the State of Florida for traffic offenses. When Page and Wynne pulled up to the residence both men came outside. Corporal Wynne interviewed the men briefly to see if he could gain any further information about the incident. While Wynne was conducting his interview, Page noticed several marijuana plants growing in the garden at the residence. Once Corporal Wynne finished his interviews, Page confronted both men about the plants. Both denied knowing anything about the marijuana growing in their garden at first, but later admitted knowing it was there. RFC Page discovered 13 marijuana plants total. Page then notified a narcotics officer from the Lamar County Sheriff's Office. Both men were turned over to the narcotics officer and charged with manufacturing marijuana with intent to distribute.

PIKE COUNTY On Monday, June 24th, Corporal Travis Sweat, RFC Kevin Godbee and Deputy Ranger Joe Sebo did an archery presentation for Pike County 4H. About 15 young people participated and learned archery basics.
PUTNAM COUNTY On the evening of June 28th, Sergeant Bo Kelly and Captain Steven Turner patrolled Lake Sinclair utilizing a helicopter from DNR's aviation unit. Numerous violations were observed from the air and the vessels were stopped by the officers on water. One of the vessels was stopped by Ranger Jeremy Reese and Corporal Bubba Stanford. The operator was towing persons on tubes without an observer and further investigation led to the subject being arrested for operating a vessel under the influence (under 21) and towing person with a PWC without an observer. The intense patrol was conducted due to Operation Dry Water to provide water safety knowledge and boating under the influence enforcement.
Region V- Albany (Southwest)
LAKE WORTH On June 28th, Cpl. Greg Wade met with reporters from WALB at Lake Worth to discuss "Operation Dry Water"; a nationwide initiative started in 2009 aimed at reducing Boating under the Influence incidents. Click link below to view the story:

ALBANY On June 27th, members of the Region 5 Critical Action Teams, along with Seminole State Park staff, conducted a joint training exercise. The event was designed to test the readiness, training, and equipment of the members when conducting searches for missing persons or responding to natural disasters.
DOOLY COUNTY (LAKE BLACKSHEAR / FLINT RIVER) On June 29, 2013 at 4:45 pm Cpl. Bob Holley and Rgr. Jesse Harrison were conducting a vessel patrol of Lake Blackshear and the Flint River when they observed a vessel fail to obey the regulatory marker at the Hwy 27 bridge in Dooly County. A vessel stop was conducted and during the course of the stop the operator was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested for boating under the influence and for failure to obey a regulatory marker. TURNER COUNTY On June 29th, Ranger Chad Hulsey spoke at the annual Turner County Extension Office Fishing Tournament. Husley served as the guest speaker and weigh in official for the all ages tournament which was attended by over 25 children and adults. SUMTER COUNTY On June 28th, Sgt. Al Greer, RFC Clint Martin and Ranger Jesse Harrison assisted the Georgia State Patrol and the Sumter County Sheriff's Office in a concentrated patrol and road check. Multiple subjects were arrested and citations were issued for a variety of offences. TERRELL COUNTY On June28th, Ranger Quinn Fogle and Sgt. Butch Potter assisted GSP Troopers, GBI Agents and local deputies with a road check. During the detail the officers identified numerous traffic violations, including driving under the influence of drugs.

QUITMAN COUNTY On June 29th, Ranger Quinn Fogle and Sgt. Butch Potter were patrolling Cool Branch Park on Lake Walter F. George. While verifying a fisherman's license, information appeared indicating that he had a warrant for his arrest. The subject was taken into custody and turned over to Quitman County Sheriff's Department.
CLAY COUNTY On June 29th, Cpl. Scott Carroll, Sgt. Butch Potter and Ranger Quinn Fogle were patrolling Lake Walter F. George when they encountered a vessel being operated without the required lights. The operator was cited for insufficient PFD's, towing a skier after sunset and operating a vessel without lights during hours of darkness.
Region VI- Metter (Southeast)
DODGE COUNTY On June 23rd, Cpl. John A. Stokes patrolled the Dodge County PFA. Two violations were detected for fishing without a license and fishing without a WMA license.
On June 29th, RFC Allen Mills conducted patrols at several boat landings along the Ocmulgee River from northwest Dodge County to southeast Telfair County. RFC Mills conducted four boating safety inspections during patrol. One violation for operating a vessel without coast guard-approved PFDs was documented.
On June 29th, Cpl. John A Stokes patrolled Dodge County PFA. Five violations were documented for fishing without a license.
WHEELER COUNTY On June 23rd, Cpl. Dan Stiles responded to a night hunting complaint in progress. Cpl. Stiles confirmed that no crop damage permits were issued in the area. After patrolling the area Cpl. Stiles located two individuals hunting feral hogs in a peanut field. One violation for hunting without a license was documented. Verbal guidance was given for other violations.
On June 25th -27th, RFC Rodney Horne conducted a Hunter Development program and Hunter Education course for Legacy Outdoor Ministries in Alamo, GA. Thirteen youths were instructed in shooting skills and received a hunter education certification. RFC Horne also conducted an additional Hunter Education course on June 25th-27th through the school system in Wheeler County in which five students received their certifications.

LAURENS COUNTY On June 24th, Cpl. Dan Stiles conducted an information and education program with TV 35 in Dublin, GA. Cpl. Stiles answered questions regarding alligators and presented an overview of recent boating law changes and boating safety.
TELFAIR COUNTY On June 29th, Cpl. John A Stokes and Sgt. David Reckley patrolled river landings. Three violations were documented for operating vessels without registration.
CHARLTON COUNTY On June 22nd, Sergeant Patrick Dupree and Corporal Josh Chambers checked ten houndsmen inside a fox hound training enclosure near St. George. Five license violations were discovered and documented.
On June 29th, Sgt. Patrick Dupree and Ranger Sam Williams patrolled the St. Mary's River from Trader's Hill to Colerain for boating safety compliance including boating under the influence violations as part of Operation Dry Water. Ten vessels were inspected and one warning was issued for improper PFDs.
WARE COUNTY On June 26th, Corporal Josh Chambers and Game Management biologist Greg Nelms inspected two wild animal permit holders in northern Ware County. No violations were documented.
APPLING COUNTY On June 21st, Cpl. Altman worked Lake Mayers for Boating Safety violations. Two vessels were stopped, one for towing a skier w/o an observer or mirror, and the other for operating a PWC above idle speed within 100 feet of a public shore. Later that day, Cpl. Altman was patrolling the Altamaha River, and two violations of fishing without a license were documented.
On June 23rd, Cpl. Altman answered a call from SOC at Lake Mayers about reckless operation of a vessel. One contact was made for violating the "100 foot rule", and another was made for allowing an underage child to ride in a moving vessel without wearing a PFD.

EVANS COUNTY On June 22nd, RFC Clint Jarriel and SGT Jon Barnard patrolled the Public Fishing Area. The officers wrote three citations for fishing on a PFA w/o a WMA License.
On June 23rd, RFC Clint Jarriel patrolled the Public Fishing Area and wrote four citations for fishing on a PFA w/o a WMA License.
On June 26th, RFC Brannen checked activity on the Evans County Public Fishing Area. One violation was written for operating a vessel with PFD's.
On June 27th, RFC Brannen checked the Evans County Public Fishing Area for activity. Several licenses were checked. Verbal warnings were given for no GORP pass and one violation was documented for fishing on a WMA without a PFA license.
SCREVEN COUNTY On June 23rd, While investigating tire tracks leading onto private property off Mobley Pond Road, Cpl. Shaymus McNeely encountered a man and a woman digging for artifacts. As Cpl. McNeely approached, the man picked up a machete and began to walk toward his vehicle. The man appeared to be talking to himself and was acting as if he was under the influence of something. After taking the man into custody Cpl. McNeely asked the woman if she knew if he had used any drugs, she stated they had both been smoking meth. A pipe containing a small amount of methamphetamine was found in the man's truck. Both subjects were arrested and charged with; Possession of Methamphetamine, Digging for artifacts without written permission, Possession of drug related object, and Failure to notify State Archaeologist prior to digging.
On June 29th, Cpl. Shaymus McNeely and Cpl. Mike Wilcox were checking the area of a crop damage permit off Oglethorpe Trail when they encountered a group of hog hunters. When asked for a hunting license none of the six people in the group had one. Citations were issued for hunting without a license.
BERRIEN AND LANIER COUNTIES On June 29th, RFC Tim Hutto and K9 Gauge patrolled areas along the Alapaha River from Alapaha to Stockton. Several citations were issued for littering, operating a vessel without life jackets, fishing without a license, and operating a vessel with insufficient life jackets.

COOK COUNTY On June 23rd, Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey observed two subjects throw beer cans onto the river bank at an area on the Little River. The two subjects were cited for littering.
Later that same day, Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey checked two subjects fishing from a boat in the Little River. Two violations were documented; Fishing w/o a license and operating a vessel w/o PFD's
Region VII- Brunswick (Coastal)
MCINTOSH COUNTY On June 28th and 29th Cpl Bobby White and Ranger Jay Bright conducted a vessel patrol with a NOAA Fisheries agent and a Homeland Security agent checking commercial shrimp boats and all recreational boats in in Doboy Sound and Sapelo Sound areas searching for any illegal fishing and boating activities. The crew boarded two shrimp boats and checked around 40 recreational boaters and fisherman.

GLYNN COUNTY On June 28, RFC David Brady, Cpl. Craig Smith, RFC John Evans, and Sgt. Chris Hodge worked a joint detail with US Customs and Border Protection, US Department of Homeland Security and Glynn County Police Department on a joint Port Security Patrol. Five arrests and multiple charges were made during the operation.
On June 27th, RFC John Evans taught a Boating Safety course and gave a program on Georgia's snakes to the Glynn County Search and Rescue personnel.
CHATHAM COUNTY On June 23, Sgt. Cindy Miller patrolled the waters of Chatham County. Sgt. Miller checked several recreational boaters and fishermen. She cited three different individuals for not enough life jackets, allowing a child under 10 to ride in a moving vessel without wearing a life jacket, and failure to display an anchor light. On June 29, Cpl. Bill Bryson worked a complaint in the Herb River area of Chatham County. Cpl. Bryson cited an individual for operating above idle within 100 foot of a dock.

CAMDEN COUNTY On June 29th, Sgt. Chris Hodge, RFC John Evans, Ranger Colt Shaske, and Ranger Jay Bright participated in the 1st Annual C.Mo's Kids catfish rodeo at Dr. Gowen's fish farm. Officers assisted handicapped and disabled children with fishing during the day and also participated in the weigh in of fish for the kids. Officers from the 30th Basic Ranger's Academy sponsored the event as their class project.
BRYAN COUNTY On June 27th, Ranger Jason Miller assisted the McIntosh County rangers with boarding and inspecting commercial shrimp boats in McIntosh County. He cited one shrimper for commercial fishing without a commercial license. On June 28th, Cpl. Jay Morgan and Ranger Jason Miller assisted the Ft. McAllister State Park rangers with a canoe trip involving kids participating in the Junior Rangers program at the Redbird Creek boat ramp. On the evening of June 28th, Ranger Jason Miller cited one boater at Ft. McAllister boat ramp for operating a vessel without navigation lights. On June 29th, Cpl. Jay Morgan and Ranger Jason Miller found a truck stuck in the mud on Egypt Island Road on Rayonier Paper Company property. The two individuals had been mud-bogging by driving down into the ditches and destroying the paper company's roadway when they got stuck. The officers obtained the individuals' identifications and the information will be turned over to the landowner for possible prosecution of criminal trespass.

On the evening of June 29th, Ranger Jason Miller observed a vessel approaching Ft. McAllister Marina without a stern light. The boater was cited for operating a vessel without proper lights.
