Weekly Report November 24-30, 2013
This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Division.

Region I- Calhoun (Northwest)
BARTOW COUNTY On November 27th, RFC Zack Hardy was patrolling in the Euharlee area. RFC Hardy located a hunter in a tree stand off Hodges Mine Road hunting without the required hunter orange. The hunter was issued a citation for hunting deer without hunter orange. On November 29th, Cpl. Byron Young, RFC Bart Hendrix and RFC Brooks Varnell were working waterfowl hunting in Bartow County. The three officers were set up on a swamp in western Bartow County listening for hunters shooting. The officers heard shots from two different locations after sunset. Cpl. Young watched the first area from a hidden location and RFC's Hendrix and Varnell left to locate the second group of hunters. RFC's Hendrix and Varnell located two hunters shooting after legal hours on the other end of the swamp. Meanwhile Cpl. Young observed four hunters continue to shoot until it was completely dark. Cpl. Young made contact with the four hunters when they exited the swamp. The four hunters were in possession of 4 wood ducks. All together six hunters were issued 10 citations for hunting waterfowl after hours, possession of illegally taken wildlife and hunting without a federal duck stamp.

COBB COUNTY On November 30th, RFC Brooks Varnell and Cpl. Lee Burns responded to an ongoing complaint of people hunting without permission off Flint Hill Rd. The officers located 2 hunters hunting without permission. Both hunters were issued citations for hunting without permission and a warning was issued for hunting without a license and failure to record deer harvest.
PICKENS COUNTY On November 27th, Cpl. James Keener issued a citation for hunting deer without fluorescent orange and a warning for hunting without permission to an individual off of Hwy 515 North. On November 30th, Cpl. James Keener investigated an incident off of Old Harbin Rd. where a bullet had been shot into a residence. The projectile, a 50 caliber BMG bullet, had entered the top of the rear door of the residence and penetrated through the door, striking the opposite wall across the room and ricocheting off the wall into the floor. The damage to the door resulted in all of the glass being shattered. The incident was originally believed to have been the result of a burglary, but is also being investigated as a possible stray bullet from a nearby hunter. Thankfully, no one was injured!
GILMER COUNTY On November 24th, Sgt. John VanLandingham and RFC Joe Hill completed an investigation that led to one suspect being issued a citation for hunting without permission, and another cited for hunting without permission and for interference with a Ranger in the performance of his duties. On November 28th, RFC Joe Hill responded to a hunting without permission complaint and found one suspect hunting on property he did not have permission to hunt. RFC Hill also found the area to be baited with corn. As the Ranger was approaching the hunter, he noticed him take his orange vest off. RFC Hill had the subject climb out of the tree and asked him about the orange vest. The hunter stated he was trying to zip his overalls. The Ranger advised the hunter how important it is to keep the vest on at all times. When asked for his hunting license, the hunter did not have one on his person. RFC Hill

verified the hunter had all applicable licenses. The subject was issued citations for hunting without permission and hunting big game over bait. A warning was issued for hunting without a license on person. On November 28th, Cpl. James Keener and RFC Joe Hill worked a detail to address night hunting complaints. At around 9:00 pm, the Rangers stopped a vehicle after observing it shine multiple fields. There were four subjects, a spotlight, and two rifles inside the truck. Three of the suspects were cited for hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a motor vehicle. The other suspect was arrested and charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, hunting from a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. FANNIN COUNTY On November 29th, RFC Joe Hill and RFC Cody Jones were patrolling the Blue Ridge WMA during the rifle hunt. The Officers checked several hunters and issued 2 warnings and 2 citations for hunting without a license, hunting without wearing fluorescent orange, and killing a doe deer during a buck only hunt. The doe deer, which weighed only 38 lbs, was confiscated and donated to a needy family.
MURRAY COUNTY On November 29th, Cpl. James Keener and Cpl. Casey Jones issued citations for hunting without a Georgia waterfowl license and hunting waterfowl with an unplugged shotgun. The officers also issued two warnings for hunting without a hunting license and hunting without a federal waterfowl stamp.

WHITFIELD COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Casey Jones responded to a hunting without permission complaint in Whitfield County. Upon arriving at the scene Cpl. Jones discovered that the suspect had killed a doe on property he did not have permission to be hunting. Cpl. Jones addressed the violations that included hunting without permission, possession of illegally taken wildlife and failure to record deer harvest.
POLK COUNTY On November 28th, RFC Chad Cox was working a night detail in the eastern part of the county when he witnessed two individuals shining a spotlight in a field. The vehicle contained a loaded rifle. RFC Cox charged each subject with hunting deer at night, hunting from a motor vehicle, and hunting from a public road.
On November 29th, RFC Chad Cox and Sgt. Ricky Dempsey were patrolling in the western part of the county and checked two hunters. RFC Cox issued one of the hunters a citation for hunting without a license and warned him for hunting without a big game license.
HARALSON COUNTY On November 27th, Cpl. Eric Brown received a complaint of someone posting about spotlighting on Facebook. Cpl. Brown spoke with the complainant and got them to email a screen shot of the Facebook entry. The entry read "Welp jus got a doe spotlightin ;)". Cpl. Brown then used several investigative tools available to law enforcement to get an address on the subject. He then visited the residence. As he was verifying the residence a white male came outside. Cpl. Brown then identified himself and asked to speak with the subject who posted the comment. The subject advised that he and his brother heard someone shoot from the road. He then stated that they looked in the field and found a doe, which they took and dressed. Cpl. Brown asked to see the phone that was used to post the comment on Facebook. He then asked the subject to allow him to read the comments below the posting. After further interviewing the subjects and reading the comments, they admitted to being with their uncle while he shot the deer from the vehicle. The uncle then left and the two brothers went to the field and retrieved the deer, which they then dressed. The uncle came back to the house and picked the deer up. He took it to his residence and hung it in the shed. All three subjects admitted to participating in the night deer hunting. All wrote voluntary statements and were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, hunting from a motor vehicle, and illegal possession of wildlife. The doe deer was confiscated.

. November 29th, RFC Daniel Gray investigated a complaint in Haralson county reference and illegally killed hen turkey. After a brief investigation two individuals were cited for illegal possession of wildlife and killing totally protected game species.
DOUGLAS COUNTY On November 24th, Cpl. Eric Brown responded to hunting without permission complaint in south Douglas County. The complainant stated that the subject and a female had killed a doe without permission. Upon investigating the complaint, Cpl. Brown determined that the male subject had been cited the previous week on the same parcel of property. The subject was arrested for hunting without permission and illegal possession of wildlife. The female subject was cited for hunting without a license, hunting without a big game license, hunting without having hunter education certification, hunting without permission, and illegal possession of wildlife.
On November 29th, Cpl. Eric Brown and Ranger Mark Puig responded to a hunting without permission complaint on the backside of Sweetwater Creek State Park. Upon searching the area, one subject was found and cited only for failure to record a deer harvest.

CARROLL COUNTY On November 29th, Cpl. Eric Brown and Ranger Mark Puig were patrolling for duck hunting activity in the south part of Carroll County. One subject was cited for not having a HIP permit.
On November 30th, Cpl. Eric Brown was patrolling for deer and duck hunting activity on the western part of the county. One subject was cited for hunting without orange and allowing his son to hunt without orange.
FULTON COUNTY On November 24th, Cpl. Eric Brown was patrolling South Fulton County for deer hunting activity. He cited one subject for hunting deer over bait.
On November 25th, Cpl. Eric Brown and Ranger Mark Puig were patrolling Fulton County for hunting activity. One subject was cited for hunting without a big game license. Later that day, they responded to a complaint of someone trapping doves in downtown Atlanta. Upon arrival they found a crude cage being held up by a stick in the driveway. The cage was baited with bird seed and a fishing line was tied to the stick. The Rangers followed the fishing line down the driveway and to the rear of the residence. They also noticed a cage nailed to a tree that contained 7 mourning doves. One subject was warned for trapping with an illegal device, holding a game animal without a permit and was instructed to release all mourning doves.
On November 28th, Cpl. Eric Brown and Ranger Mar Puig were patrolling South Fulton County for deer hunting activity. One subject was cited for hunting big game over bait. Later that morning, the Rangers found a car pulled over on the side of the road. As they investigated they discovered that the occupants were hunting. After searching the area three Hispanic subjects were found. Ranger Mark Puig apprehended one of the subjects as the other two fled the area. The subject was cited for hunting with a firearm in a closed area, hunting without a license, and hunting without a big game license.
Region II- Gainesville (Northeast)
WHITE COUNTY On November 28th, RFC Anne Britt was working an area in the Eastern part of the county for night hunting activity. RFC Britt observed a truck with two people in the cab and five people in the bead of the truck shine a light in a field she was watching. RFC Britt stopped the truck and found one of the persons in the back of the truck was shining the field with a LED headlamp. RFC Britt located a loaded rifle in the cab and a bow in the bed of the truck. RFC Britt cited seven people for hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road and hunting from a vehicle.
On November 29th, RFC Anne Britt found two people hunting waterfowl after the legal shooting time of sunset. The two hunters were each charged with hunting waterfowl after hours and warned for not signing their federal waterfowl stamp. One of the hunters was also warned for not having a state waterfowl license.

HABERSHAM COUNTY On November the 30th, Corporal Derek Dillard responded to a road hunting complaint in Tallulah Falls in the area of the Tallulah Gorge Wildlife Management Area. Corporal Dillard spoke to the complainant as well as Tallulah Gorge State Park Ranger Danny Tatum and they located where the deer had been shot from the road and loaded up into a truck. The officers located where a doe deer had been signed out on the WMA by the person matching the vehicle description and tag number. Corporal Dillard located and interviewed the subject about the incident. When asked why he signed the deer out, he replied, "I knew that I was caught when I saw the man turn around and come back to get my tag number, and I knew that it would be one less charge for me." The subject was cited for hunting big game from a public road, hunting from a vehicle, and possession of illegally taken wildlife. The doe deer was located at a deer processor and confiscated.
UNION COUNTY On November 30th, RFC Kevin Dyer and Captain Thomas Barnard worked a night deer hunting detail in Union County. At approximately 4:00am on December 1st Captain Barnard observed a vehicle stop and one of the occupants of the vehicle used a hand held spot light to shine a field. RFC Dyer and Captain Barnard stopped the vehicle that was occupied by four men. During the investigation all four subjects were charged with hunting from a motor vehicle and hunting from a public road. In addition one of the subjects was charged with failure to record a deer harvest for a deer he had killed earlier this season. The subjects were issued citations and released.
FRANKLIN COUNTY On November 24th, RFC Tim Vickery was checking a trespassing complaint when he found a subject hunting over bait. The subject also had an electronic deer call near the base of the tree he was hunting in. After talking to the subject and checking property lines, it was determined that he was not trespassing. He was, however, charged with hunting big game over bait and received a written warning for using the electronic call.
On November 30th, RFC Vickery caught a subject hunting a baited stand that he had been working for several weeks. The subject was from Texas and was visiting family for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The subject was cited for hunting without wearing fluorescent orange and non-resident hunting without a license. He was also written warnings for hunting big game over bait and non-resident hunting without a big game license.
HART COUNTY On the night of November 25th, RFC Brandon Pierce was working a night hunting detail. At around 9:30 PM a vehicle came by the officer's location and shined numerous places looking for deer. The vehicle was stopped and contained two individuals. RFC Pierce, along with Cpl. Craig Fulghum and Sgt. Stan Elrod, conducted interviews with the individuals after the subjects were arrested. A total of six citations were issued consisting of hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a vehicle. A rifle and several lights were seized as evidence.

On November 29th, RFC Brandon Pierce patrolled the county for any hunting/illegal activity. Numerous hunters were checked for proper safety equipment and licenses. A total of one citation was issued. The violation consisted of hunting deer without fluorescent orange.
JACKSON COUNTY On November 28th, RFC Eric Isom checked a property baited with whole corn and mineral block near Nicholson. RFC Isom utilized his K9 partner Colt to locate two adults and two juveniles hunting near the baited stand. RFC Isom issued a citation and a warning to the adult hunters for hunting big game over Also they were instructed not to hunt the area until 10 days after the bait had been cleaned up.
On November 29th, RFC Isom checked three hunters near Pendergrass. The hunters had each killed a deer that morning but none of them had recorded the deer on their harvest record. RFC Isom issued a citation and warnings for hunting without a hunting license and failure to record deer harvest.
BARROW COUNTY On November 29th, RFC Eric Isom checked a hunter at his vehicle near Auburn. The hunter had just shot a 7 point buck. RFC Isom assisted the hunter in dragging out the deer out to the hunter's vehicle.
On November 29th, Cpl. Jason Roberson responded to a complaint of hunting without permission in Barrow County. He located two hunters who had crossed over the property line of the property that they had permission to be on. They were issued warnings for the violations.
BANKS COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Adam Loudermilk and Cpl. Jason Roberson was patrolling Banks County for night deer hunters. Two subjects were observed shining a light into a field. They stopped the vehicle and determined that the occupants were hunting for deer. Both occupants were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a vehicle. The driver was also charged with driving with a suspended license.
On November 29-30th, Cpl. Adam Loudermilk and Nails Creek Baptist Church held the annual Banks County youth deer hunt. A total of 24 kids hunted and harvested 18 deer.
HALL COUNTY On November 30th, at 2330 Ranger Kevin Goss & RFC Mark Stephens, while watching for night hunting observed a car driving slowly down the road. After coming to a stop the car turned off its headlight in the middle of the road. Both Rangers then approached the car and made a vehicle stop and question the driver and passenger. During questioning the driver allowed a search of the vehicle and a small box containing marijuana, a pipe and a grinder. Ranger Goss cited the driver who admitted to owning the marijuana. The

driver admitted to smoking the marijuana earlier in the evening but felt and showed no effects of the drug.
On November 27th, Cpl. Jason Roberson patrolled Lake Lanier for waterfowl hunters. During his patrol, numerous violations of boating safety and license issues were detected.
DAWSON COUNTY On November 29th, RFC Barry Britt and Capt. Thomas Barnard were working on night hunting deer violations when they were called to a search and rescue case of two lost hikers on Dawson Forest WMA below Hwy 53. RFC Britt and Capt. Barnard searched by foot in steep, rough terrain with Dawson County Rescue/Fire personnel. After 1 hours of searching, the hikers were safely located and then led back out to their vehicle.
FORSYTH COUNTY On November 28th, Ranger Shane Brown and Cpl. Eric Sanders issued a citation for hunting big game over bait.
On November 28th, Ranger Shane Brown, RFC Mitchell Crump and SGT Lee Brown were checking duck hunters as they came in at Two Mile Creek Boat Ramp on Lake Lanier. A boat came in with a person riding on the bow/gunwales of the boat. Ranger Shane Brown issued a citation for the violation.
On November 30th, Ranger Shane Brown and SGT Lee Brown located two subjects hunting ducks on private property. The subjects were issued citations and warnings for hunting with unplugged shotguns, hunting without federal duck stamp and hunting without permission.
On November 30th, Ranger Shane Brown and SGT Lee Brown noticed a truck parked in a field while they were listening for a duck shoot and decided to wait on the hunter to come out from hunting. When the hunter returned to his vehicle he was not wearing fluorescent orange. A written warning was issued for hunting without fluorescent orange.
GWINNETT COUNTY On November 24th, Cpl. Eddie Tompkins observed a vehicle driving erratically in both lanes of travel. Then the passenger door opens and Cpl. Tompkins observes a struggle between the two occupants as they are still moving. Cpl. Tompkins stopped the vehicle and separated the two subjects. The two subjects were involved in a domestic dispute and both were under the influence of alcohol. Gwinnett County PD arrived to assist with the situation. Gwinnett PD charged the driver with domestic violence, battery, open container of alcohol, and DUI.
On November 30th, Cpl. Eric Sanders and Cpl. Eddie Tompkins located a subject hunting without fluorescent orange along a power line. The subject was issued a written warning for hunting without fluorescent orange.

LUMPKIN COUNTY On November 26th, RFC Barry Britt and Ranger Shane Brown charged a subject with littering after a brief investigation of dumping a deer carcass onto private property. The subject volunteered to remove the carcass and properly dispose of it.
On November 28th, RFC Mitchell Crump received a complaint in reference to a subject hunting without permission. The subject was located and found to be hunting over bait (Corn) and without fluorescent orange. Upon further investigation it was determined that the subject had permission to be hunting the property. The subject was issued citations for hunting big game over bait and hunting without fluorescent orange.
On November 29th, RFC Mitchell Crump checked two duck hunters and found several license violations. The subjects were issued citations and warnings for hunting without license, hunting with HIP license, hunting without federal duck stamp, and failure to sign federal duck stamp.
On November 30th, RFC Mitchell Crump received a complaint in reference to hunting without permission. Upon arriving at the property RFC Crump located a vehicle on the complainant's property. After a couple hours a subject appeared dressed in full camouflage. The subject did not have a weapon for hunting and stated he was not hunting when questioned. RFC Crump made contact with RFC Eric Isom and request that he respond to the location with K-9 Colt to search the area for a weapon. K-9 Colt located a firearm after a short search of the area. The subject was later arrested and charged with interfering with the duties of a ranger, hunting without license, hunting without big game license, hunting without harvest record, hunting without fluorescent orange, hunting without permission, and littering.
WHITE COUNTY On November 25th, RFC Mitchell Crump received a complaint in reference to a subject hunting without permission. RFC Crump located the subject crawling along the shoulder of the highway in a ghillie suit, crawling with a rifle in attempts to harvest a deer from a field that bordered the highway. The subject was issued citations and warnings for hunting without fluorescent orange, hunting from a public road, and hunting without permission.
Region III- Thomson (East Central)
MORGAN COUNTY On November 28, RFC Ricky Boles checked 3 hunters hunting in a duck swamp on private property. Two of the hunters were found to be caring lead shot on their person. The hunters were cited for duck hunting with lead shot.
On November 30, RFC Ricky Boles responded to hunting without permission complaint. The complainant heard a shot near the property line and went to where the shot came from and found a hunter dragging a deer across the property line. After arriving, the hunter tried to tell me that he had shot the deer on his side and it ran across the property

line. He was merely trying to retrieve it. While investigating the area no hair or blood was found on the hunter's side of the property. All evidence showed that the deer was definitely shot across the line. Further questioning of the hunter led to a confession. The hunter was charged with hunting without permission and possession of unlawfully taken wildlife. The deer was confiscated and given to a local needy family.
PUTNAM COUNTY On Sunday, November 24, Sgt. John Harwell and RFC Richard Tanner encountered 4 waterfowl hunters hunting on the Dan Denton Waterfowl Area of Oconee WMA. The area was closed to hunting on that date. The hunters were cited for hunting on a closed WMA.
GREENE COUNTY Cpl. Derrell Worth cited two subjects for hunting without fluorescent orange, two without hunting license, one big game over bait, two without big game license, and one without a WMA license and four for failure to record deer harvest (including a ten point buck).
NEWTON COUNTY On November 27th RFC Niki Spencer and RFC Richard Tanner responded to an illegal duck hunting complaint on the Alcovy River. Three duck hunters were checked and citations were issued for operating a vessel without PFD's and hunting without a Georgia waterfowl stamp.
LINCOLN COUNTY On November 29th, Cpl. Ryan Swain, Cpl. Mark Patterson and Sgt. Brian Carter investigated a hunting incident that occurred on a hunting club in Western Lincoln County. A juvenile hunter was shot in the head while deer hunting. The juvenile is at GRU Hospital in Augusta and is listed in stable condition. The incident is still under investigation by RFC Jeff Billips with DNR CIRT Team.
On November 29, Cpl. Ryan Swain apprehended two subjects for hunting big game over bait and license violation. Citations were issued to the subjects.
MCDUFFIE COUNTY On November 29th, RFC Brian Adams and RFC Leroy Ficklin apprehended two nonresident hunters for hunting big game over bait and license violations.
JEFFERSON COUNTY On the evening of November 28, RFC Matherly was working an active night hunting complaint in Jefferson County. At approximately 10:30 in the evening RFC Matherly observed a white vehicle coming down the road shining a light from the vehicle into a field. RFC Matherly followed the vehicle for a short distance before stopping it. He observed the light being shined from both sides of the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle he found that the rear seated passenger had a loaded .270 rifle which had the safety in the off position. The subjects were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a motor vehicle, and hunting from a public road.

WASHINGTON COUNTY On November 30, Corporal Micheal Crawley and K9 Storm were working deer hunting activity in Washington County. Corporal Crawley checked 2 deer hunters for proper licenses. The hunter's license checked out, but Corporal Crawley smelled a strong odor of marijuana and after further investigation found one of the hunters to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
OGLETHORPE COUNTY On Friday November 29th, RFC Phillip Nelson, Cpl. Julian Wilkins and Tech III Kevin VonSeggern caught two subjects hunting deer over bait.
On Saturday November 30th, RFC Phillip Nelson and Cpl. Julian Wilkins caught three subjects hunting hogs without permission. All three subjects were charged with hunting from a motor vehicle, hunting from a public road and were given a warning for hunting without permission.
OCONEE COUNTY On November 27th RFC Tim Butler responded to hunting without permission complaint. RFC Butler located the suspect's vehicle shortly before nightfall and waited for the suspects to exit the woods. Using night vision RFC Butler watched two men run from the woods to their vehicle. It was determined one of the suspects was deer hunting while the other was accompanying him. Neither of the suspects was wearing fluorescent orange. The suspect who was hunting did not have a big game license or a hunting license. Additionally, both suspects were found to be in possession of marijuana. Both suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Jail. A total of seven citations were issued for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, hunting without permission, hunting without a big game license, hunting without a license, hunting deer without wearing fluorescent orange, and accompanying a deer hunter without wearing fluorescent orange.
WALTON COUNTY On November 30th RFC Tim Butler issued two warnings for hunting waterfowl without a license.
WILKES COUNTY On November 28th Sgt. Brian Carter and Cpl. Mark Patterson responded to a call from the city of Washington Police Department. Upon arrival at the scene it was discovered that a group of hunters traveling through the county from Tennessee had shot a deer from the road inside the city limits. The subjects were found in the field attempting to retrieve the deer. After a brief investigation two of the subjects were charged with hunting deer from a motor vehicle and hunting from a public road.

ELBERT COUNTY On November 28, Cpl. Julian Wilkins received a call from an individual stating that a hunter had walked across the corner of his property that morning and was not wearing any fluorescent orange. Later that afternoon Cpl. Wilkins investigated the complaint and found a subject in a deer stand next to a feeder. This subject was a non-resident and found to be hunting big game over bait, hunting deer without fluorescent orange, and no license. Cpl. Wilkins was told by this subject that three others were hunting further down the ridge. These subjects were found to be all non-residents hunting without license and without fluorescent orange. One of the subjects was a twelve year old female. The three adults were charged for their violations.
Region IV- Macon (West Central)
BALDWIN COUNTY On November 30th, Cpl. Josh Copelan checked baited deer stands during the holiday weekend. Two hunters were cited for hunting deer over bait and released on charges. BIBB COUNTY On November 30th, Ranger David Fisher responded to a complaint of hunting without permission on a piece of property owned by the county. Upon arrival, Fisher encountered two individuals who were duck hunting. It was determined that the two hunters were lacking a federal waterfowl stamp. Additionally, the ranger explained that no one was supposed to be hunting the pond. Citations and warnings were issued for hunting without a federal waterfowl stamp and hunting without permission.

BLECKLEY COUNTY On November 30th, RFC Ronnie Beard was listening for after-hours duck hunting off Hwy 112 when he heard a number of shots coming from a distant pond. He pursued the shots and, upon arriving at the pond, heard several people talking. The ranger also observed the individuals were walking around looking for downed ducks. Beard identified himself and requested the hunters come to him. However, the individuals fled. RFC Beard then went to a nearby residence where he had seen several trucks parked, and he waited. As he was doing so, a pickup with a boat in the back pulled up to his location. Beard inquired as to whether the driver had been fishing and the individual stated he was there to help his son locate a downed duck. Upon the ranger explaining the situation to the subject, the individual contacted the hunters by phone and they agreed to meet the officer. Subsequently, four hunters were charged with hunting waterfowl after hours. Additionally, one of the hunters was charged with hunting with an unplugged shotgun.
BUTTS COUNTY On November 24th, RFC Keith Page and Sgt. Tim Kendrick encountered a man in the woods behind the Hyponex plant on Hwy 42. The man walked out of the woods wearing camouflage, but denied hunting in the area. After speaking to the man, RFC Page and Sgt. Kendrick were able to get a confession from the man that he had been deer hunting. He also admitted to hiding his rifle in the bushes before walking out to meet the rangers. It was also discovered that the man did not have a hunting license or a big game license. RFC Page issued the man citations for hunting without a license, hunting without a big game license, and hunting deer without wearing an orange vest. Later, after leaving the man, RFC Page decided to run the man's criminal history and found that he was a convicted felon. The following day, RFC Page prepared a search warrant for the man's residence. In addition, RFC Page moved the citations to arrest warrants. On the evening of November 25th, RFC Page, RFC Kevin Godbee, and Cpl. Susan Morris executed the search warrant on the man's house. Three firearms and multiple boxes of ammunition were seized and the man was arrested and taken to the Butts County Jail for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was also presented with arrest warrants for the other violations.
On November 29th, RFC Keith Page and RFC Freddie Hayes were checking the hunting activity on Hwy 16 west, just outside of Jackson. The rangers located two vehicles around noon that appeared to belong to hunters who were still in the woods hunting. Page and Hayes decided to enter the woods and find the hunters. K9 Drake was deployed and was used to track to the first hunter. While speaking to the man, RFC Page could tell he was very nervous. After talking to the hunter for several minutes, Page discovered a small bag of marijuana and a marijuana smoking device in the man's chest pocket on his overalls. The hunter had all the required licenses to hunt deer, but he was charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

COWETA COUNTY On Thursday, November 28th, Cpl. Keith Waddell and Cpl. Travis Sweat were checking known baited areas. They found several hunters on a club hunting over bait. They issued three citations for hunting big game over bait and one citation for hunting without fluorescent orange. They also issued a written warning for failure to record deer harvest.
On Friday, November 29th, Cpl. Keith Waddell and Sgt. Brent Railey were checking known baited areas. They found two people gutting a deer at the truck. Through an investigation, it was determined that the deer was killed over bait. They issued a citation for unlawful enticement of a game animal and a warning for failure to wear 500 square inches of fluorescent orange while deer hunting.
HARRIS COUNTY On November 30th, Cpl. Mitch Oliver received a call from the Harris County Sheriff's Office shortly after midnight. Cpl. Oliver had just arrived home from working a night hunting detail and the call was in reference to another night hunting complaint. The dispatcher told Cpl. Oliver that a deputy had encountered 2 subjects on the side of the road with what appeared to be a freshly killed deer. The 2 suspects had told the deputy that they had hit the deer before dark and had shot it to put it down. The deputy didn't believe the story and had asked for Cpl. Oliver to respond. Cpl. Oliver responded to the scene and interviewed the 2 subjects. They both admitted to killing the deer at night from the highway and had just loaded it into the truck when the deputy happened up on them. Both subjects were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a motor vehicle, and hunting from a public road. The deer was seized and later donated to a local family in the county.
HEARD COUNTY On November 27th, Cpl. Mitch Oliver received a call in regards to a suspicious truck parked at a hunting lease in Heard County. The lease holder spoke to the occupants of the truck and they moved across the road and entered another tract of land. The complainant said that the men went into the woods dressed in camouflage and carrying firearms but didn't have on fluorescent orange. Cpl. Oliver and Sgt. Jim Bradfield met to go and check the complaint. The officers located the truck in question and waited for the hunters to exit the woods at dark. The men ended up having permission to hunt the property but still had various violations. All 3 men were issued citations for hunting deer without wearing fluorescent orange. One subject was issued a warning for hunting without a license, while another was issued a citation for non-resident hunting without a license and given a warning for non-resident hunting without a non-resident big game license.
HOUSTON COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Stillwell was working a hunting without permission complaint when he heard several shots fired in close proximity to where the complainant advised trespassers were accessing the property. Cpl. Stillwell made contact with three subjects who were hunting ducks near the corner of the property and found that one hunter did not possess a federal duck stamp. Yet another was found to be hunting with an unplugged shotgun. Both hunters were issued citations for the offenses.

JASPER COUNTY On November 28th, RFC Freddie Hays and Sgt. Tim Kendrick were checking a beaver pond on Davidson Road, where RFC Hays had previously found corn on the bank of the pond and in the water. Shortly after daybreak, they heard gunshots coming from the pond. Hays and Kendrick slipped through the woods around the pond and located two vehicles in a field near the pond and waited for the hunters to come out. A short time later, two hunters came out carrying four wood ducks. RFC Hays questioned the hunters about the corn and one of the hunters admitted to putting the corn in the pond, but said he thought it would be gone by the time they hunted the area. Both subjects were issued a citation for hunting ducks over bait and the ducks were confiscated.
JONES COUNTY On November 30th, RGR Jeremy Reese apprehended one hunter who was hunting deer over bait, hunting without license and hunting without orange vest. Three citations and one warning were issued to the hunter for the infractions.
On November 30th, RGR Jeremy Reese was working night hunting near Gray, when he observed a truck approach his location shining a spotlight. As he attempted to stop the vehicle, the person in the truck sped away from RGR Reese and ended up losing control of his truck and ended up stopping in a ditch. A loaded .270 rifle was found in the vehicle and the driver admitted to "looking for a deer to shoot". Charges of hunting at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a motor vehicle were made on the driver.

LAMAR COUNTY On November 28th, RFC Keith Page caught a man hunting deer over bait on Buice Road. The man was walking out from the area when RFC Page encountered him. He denied going anywhere near the baited area. RFC Page used K9 Drake to backtrack the man to the baited area. The hunter then admitted to hunting over the bait and was given a citation for hunting big game over bait.
On November 29th, RFC Keith Page located a hunter that was hunting deer over bait on Grape Creek Road. The hunter was issued a citation for hunting big game over bait.
On the evening of November 30th, RFC Keith Page responded to a complaint about duck hunters shooting towards houses on Camp Road. Once he arrived, RFC Page waited to see if the hunters were going to stop hunting at sunset, or if they were going to continue shooting ducks after legal hours. On this date, sunset was at 5:30 pm. RFC Page recorded the men shooting at ducks and geese as late as 5:52 pm. RFC Page and K9 Drake located the men coming out of the swamp as they were heading back to their vehicles. Page and Drake found five hunters, two of which were juveniles. The adults were charged with hunting waterfowl after hours. Two of the hunters also received written warnings for hunting ducks without a federal duck stamp and hunting ducks without a Georgia water fowl license.
MERIWETHER COUNTY On Sunday, November 24th, Sgt. Brent Railey checked a complaint of hunting without permission in south Meriwether County. Sgt. Railey approached a baited tree stand and found a man hunting without his fluorescent orange vest. The man admitted he did not have permission and that he had put the bait (corn) out on the stand. He was cited for hunting without permission and hunting big game over bait. He was warned for hunting without fluorescent orange and not having a big game license.
On Tuesday, November 26th, Cpl. Keith Waddell was patrolling Joe Kurz WMA. He checked several hunters and found multiple violations, including hunting within 50 yards of a road, failure to sign duck stamp and hunting with an unplugged shotgun. He issued both warnings and citations to the individuals involved.
MUSCOGEE COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Jeremy Bolen was patrolling Standing Boy WMA. Cpl. Bolen located a hunter walking out of the woods. After speaking with the hunter, Cpl. Bolen noticed that the hunter had an Alabama driver's license. Cpl. Bolen asked if the individual was military. The hunter advised that he used to be. Cpl. Bolen discovered that the individual got out of the military in May, but purchased a resident hunting license in October. Cpl. Bolen issued the hunter citations for non-resident hunting with resident hunting license, and non-resident hunting without a WMA license. The hunter was issued a written warning for non-resident hunting without a big game license.

PUTNAM COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Lynn Stanford and RGR Matt Johnson arrested one deer hunter for possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
On November 29th, Sgt. Bo Kelly was contacted by a local landowner who was hunting on his property, when he located an abandoned truck that was stuck on his property. The truck had been "four wheeling" on his property and caused damage to his food plots while performing "doughnuts". Additionally, empty beer cans were dumped out onto his property in various locations. The owner of the vehicle was located and charges of criminal trespass and littering were issued to him. The vehicle was removed from the property by tow truck.
On November 30th, Cpl. Lynn Stanford and RGR Matt Johnson were checking hunting properties when they apprehended a juvenile who was hunting over bait, hunting without hunter education and hunting without license. Verbal guidance was given to the juvenile and Cpl. Stanford spoke to his father about the infractions.
UPSON COUNTY On Saturday morning, November 30th, Sgt. Tim Kendrick, Cpl. Susan Morris and RFC Keith Page checked a hunting club south of Thomaston. Page received information from a confidential informant the club was baiting the area with peanuts. The rangers located one hunter, a resident of Florida, hunting over bait and had an expired non-resident hunting license. After questioning the hunter, it was discovered he harvested two deer without recording them. The hunter was cited for hunting big game over bait, nonresident hunting without a license and non-resident hunting without a big game license. He was also given a written warning for failure to record deer harvest. A man and his wife were hunting together and when they walked out to their truck, where Cpl. Morris was waiting; the female hunter was not wearing fluorescent orange. When Cpl. Morris asked to see their hunting license, the male hunter produced a non-resident hunting license, but the female did not have a license. The female hunter was given citations for hunting deer without wearing fluorescent orange, non-resident hunting without a license and non-resident hunting without a big game license.

Region V- Albany (Southwest)
MACON COUNTY On November 29th, Ranger Jesse Harrison and RFC Clint Martin were on patrol when they encountered four duck hunters in possession of over the daily limit for wood ducks. The subjects were cited for taking over the daily bag limit, and seventeen wood ducks were confiscated.

A traffic stop was made and after a brief investigation three subjects were charged for hunting hogs from a motor vehicle and hunting from a public road. SUMTER COUNTY On November 29th Cpl. Bob Holley was patrolling when he observed a truck parked in the edge of a field. The two occupants were located and had been deer hunting on the adjacent property. Both hunters were cited for hunting deer without fluorescent orange, non-resident hunting without a license and non-resident hunting big game without a big game license. CRISP COUNTY On November 28th Cpl. Bob Holley was patrolling when he observed a truck driving on a county maintained dirt road shining a field with a go-light. A traffic stop was made and after a brief investigation the occupants were issued a warning for blinding and harassing wildlife with lights.

On November 30th, Ranger Jesse Harrison was patrolling when he observed a vehicle involved in night hunting activities. A traffic stop was made and after a brief investigation two subjects were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a motor vehicle, and hunting from a public road. TURNER COUNTY On November 28th, Sgt. Al Greer was working night deer hunting complaints when he observed a subject in a pickup truck shoot at a deer running across the public road. The two subjects in the vehicle were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting big game from a public road, and hunting from a vehicle. STEWART COUNTY On November 25th, Cpl. Steve Robinson and Ranger Quinn Fogle continued an investigation of someone dumping deer carcasses on a county road. The rangers were able to track the truck to a nearby hunting camp where the owner was issued a citation for unlawful dumping.

On November 29th, Cpl. Steve Robinson and Ranger Quinn Fogle were on patrol when they encountered and cited one subject hunting deer without wearing florescent orange and another subject who was hunting without a license, hunting without big game license and hunting deer without obtaining a harvest record.

On November 30th, Cpl. Steve Robinson and Ranger Quinn Fogle were on patrol when they responded to shots being fired in the camping area on Providence Canyon State Park. After locating the subjects and conducting an investigation, citations were issued to two subjects for possession of firearm on a state park without concealed carry permit. Later that night Robinson and Fogle responded to lost hunters on Hannahatchee Wildlife Management Area. The hunters were found and returned to their vehicle. At 11:30 pm Robinson and Fogle responded to a complaint of illegal hunting on Hannahatchee WMA. Hunters were located and determined to be legally hunting raccoons, some of the hunting party did not have hunting license or WMA stamps. During the license check it was discovered that one of the subjects had illegally killed an 8 point buck in Terrell County and the person was not licensed at the time the deer was taken; citations were issued for hunting without big game license and possession of illegally taken wildlife. The antlers from the deer were seized.

Robinson and Ranger Fogle responded to a tree stand incident where a person who was working on his stand had fallen. The location of the incident and injuries sustained required that the victim be flown by life flight to the hospital.
CALHOUN COUNTY On November 29th, Cpl. Scott Carroll and Sgt. Ellis Wynn checked a dove shoot and found the field to be baited. Nine hunters were issued citations for hunting over bait and seventy-five doves were confiscated and delivered to the Albany Rescue Mission to feed needy citizens. On November 29th, Cpl. Scott Carroll checked a dove shoot and during the inspection of bag limits a hunter was found and cited for over the limit.

GRADY COUNTY On November 24th, Sgt. Rick Sellars and Cpl. Mike Binion conducted a patrol to address hunting complaints at the Tired Creek Reservoir construction site. Two subjects were cited for hunting without permission, hunting without a license, hunting without a big game license, and hunting deer without wearing fluorescent orange. On November 30th, Cpl. Mike Binion and Sgt. Rick Sellars responded to a hunting incident involving a juvenile. The incident occurred when an 11 year old deer hunter became sick and fell from a ladder stand. The juvenile was transported by a life-flight helicopter to a hospital in Tallahassee Florida.

COLQUITT COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Mike Binion, Cpl. Randy Davis, Rangers Chris Carlisle and Steve Thomas conducted a concentrated patrol to address waterfowl hunting violations. The rangers located a baited pond being shot and cited six hunters with thirteen violations. The rangers also confiscated twenty-six ducks.
Rangers (L-R) Davis, Carlisle, Thomas and Binion with confiscated wood ducks DECATUR COUNTY On November 27th, RFC Tony Cox was patrolling Silver Lake WMA when he encountered several deer hunters leaving the area. While talking to the hunters, RFC Cox learned that one of them had killed a deer a short time earlier, and had it loaded in one of the other trucks. After a short investigation, the hunter was cited for failure to record deer harvest, and for not signing the deer out on the WMA harvest report. The deer was confiscated and donated to a needy family. WORTH COUNTY On November 27th, Ranger First Class Chris Carlisle was on a patrol when he noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of a dirt road. RFC Carlisle watched the vehicle for a few moments through binoculars and observed the driver shoot a gun from the vehicle. Carlisle stopped the vehicle and found the driver was shooting at a bobwhite quail with a .223 bolt action rifle. The hunter was cited for hunting from a public road, hunting from a vehicle, and hunting with an illegal weapon.

On the afternoon of August 28th, Cpl. Greg Wade was patrolling the area around Sumner for dove activity when he located a baited shoot. Cpl. Robbie Griner was called to assist and fourteen subjects were charged with hunting over bait and one license violation. Thirty five dove were confiscated.
THOMAS COUNTY On November 27th, Sgt. David Ruddell and RFC Chris Carlisle were working a night hunting complaint when they encountered a vehicle being operated erratically. A vehicle stop was conducted, during which the driver stated he had been drinking prior to the officers stopping him. RFC Carlisle conducted field sobriety exercises and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Sheriff's Office for booking on the charge of DUI.
COLQUITT COUNTY On November 27th, RFC Jon Penuel heard shots coming from an area long after legal shooting hours had ended. Penuel located and charged six hunters with hunting waterfowl after hours.
On November 30th, Cpl. Robbie Griner and Ranger Chris Carlisle checked a duck shoot and cited eight hunters for license violations and unplugged shotguns.
BROOKS COUNTY On November 24th, RFC Jon Penuel encountered several subjects that were actively night hunting deer. It was determined that the subjects had been night deer hunting in several counties throughout the early morning hours. As a result, three subjects were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting big game from a public road and hunting from a vehicle.
LEE COUNTY On November 28th, RFC Randy James located a 14 year old subject hunting without the required orange and attempting to hide from the ranger. The youth was also hunting without hunter education and was unsupervised. The father was located a mile away in another field and was found to be hunting without the required licenses. The father was cited for hunting without licenses and also allowing a juvenile to hunt without hunter education.
On November 30th, while working a complaint area, RFC Randy James observed the occupants of a vehicle engaging in night hunting activities. Both subjects were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting big game from public road, and hunting from a motor vehicle.

Region VI- Metter (Southeast)
BEN HILL COUNTY On November 29th, Cpl. John A. Stokes was on patrol and located a dove shoot in the NW portion of the county. Five hunters were checked hunting the field. One hunter was found to be hunting without his license on his person. Cpl. Stokes utilized his computer to check the status of the hunters' license and found the subject was hunting without license due to suspension for failure to pay child support. The subject was cited for hunting without a license.
On the morning of November 28th, Sgt. David Reckley checked a duck shoot near Osierfield. The pond was found to be baited with whole kernel corn. Violations of hunting without a Georgia duck license and illegal enticement were addressed.
IRWIN COUNTY On the night of November 27th, Sgt. David Reckley was working a complaint of night hunting on the Irwin/Ben Hill County line. He observed a truck drive into the corn field he was watching and drive to the back of the field. It turned around and left the field. Sgt. Reckley made a traffic stop and questioned the driver. The subject admitted that he was looking for a deer and that he had shot at one the night before. Since he was a juvenile, the subject's father was called and he was turned over to him.
ECHOLS COUNTY On November 28th, SGT Patrick Dupree and RGR Daniel North, while patrolling for deer- dogging activity, located a hunter parked on Donahue Road. While talking with the hunter, another hunter was observed shooting at a deer from the public road. Violation of hunting big game from a public road was documented for the shooter.
On November 30th, SGT Patrick Dupree and RGR Daniel North were travelling on Will Rewis Road and observed a light on the nearby power-line. Upon further investigation several individuals were found to be hunting for wild hogs. One member of the group was discovered to not have required hunting license and was charged for the violation.
On November 30th, SGT Patrick Dupree observed a hunter with a rifle walking into the woods near Mayday. The hunter had just departed his vehicle and was not wearing any fluorescent orange. A written warning was issued.
BACON COUNTY On November 30th, while working a concentrated night hunting detail in the northern portion of the county, RFC Mark Pool observed someone in a vehicle sweep a field with a spot light. A stop was conducted and two subjects in the vehicle were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting big game from a public road, and hunting from a vehicle.

CLINCH COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Jason Shipes was working early morning duck hunting activity. While checking an area, he came in contact with a subject hunting deer without wearing his required fluorescent orange. Upon speaking with the hunter, Cpl. Shipes found that the hunter had left his orange vest at his hunting camp. The subject was issued a citation for the violation.
On November 28th, while patrolling a complaint area related to deer-dogging, Cpl. Jason Shipes observed two subjects in the roadway wearing fluorescent orange vests and participating in a dog-deer hunt. Upon speaking with the hunters, Cpl. Shipes learned that one of them failed to purchase any type of license. Citations for non-resident hunting without a license, non-resident hunting without big game license and hunting deer with dogs without a deer- dog license was issued.
On November 30th, Corporal Jason Shipes and Corporal Josh Chambers Checked several hunting clubs in Eastern Clinch County. Corporal Shipes and Corporal Chambers found violations of non- resident hunting without a license, hunting without a big game license, and hunting without a deer dogging license. The violations were documented and the subjects were released.
WARE COUNTY On November 30th, Corporal Josh Chambers responded to a complaint on Dixon WMA. Some hunters on the WMA had witnessed some illegal ATV activity while hunting. The displeased hunters called Ware County 911 and reported the violation. Corporal Chambers was able to locate the ATV and the operator was charged with illegal use of an ATV on a WMA.
Also on November 30th, Corporal Josh Chambers and Corporal Jason Shipes patrolled hunting clubs in the Manor area. Corporal Chambers and Corporal Shipes checked a group dogging deer and one vehicle did not have the required permit decal displayed. The violation was documented.
CHARLTON COUNTY During a patrol for deer-dogging activity on November 30th, Ranger Sam Williams located a group of hunters participating in a dog-deer hunt. During a license check of the hunters, it was discovered that one individual did not possess all the licenses needed. A citation was issued for a non-resident hunting without a non-resident big game license and a written warning was issued for hunting deer with dogs without a deer-dogging license.
BULLOCH COUNTY On November 28th, Cpl. Eddie Akins responded to an in progress deer dogging complaint in lower Bulloch County. Investigation of the complaint resulted in a violation being documented for failure to keep deer dogs on permitted property.

On November 29th, Cpl. Eddie Akins and Capt. Scott Klingel worked an area that they had received several complaints of night deer hunting activity. Their efforts resulted in two subjects being caught and two violations being documented on each violator. The violations were for hunting from a public road and hunting from a motor vehicle.
On Wednesday November 27th, RFC Jamey O'Brien responded to a complaint of deer dogs that were found on private property. After meeting with the landowner, it was found that a subject had allowed his deer dog to get on private property. The owner was met and the dog was returned. A violation was documented for Failure to Keep Hunting Dogs on Permitted Property
EFFINGHAM COUNTY On Saturday November 16th, RFC Jamey O'Brien was on patrol for deer dog hunting violations. RFC O'Brien discovered an individual looking for a hunting dog along the roadway. The hunting dog was found to be on private property where the dog was not permitted to be. A violation for Failure to Keep Hunting Dogs on Permitted Property was documented.
On Saturday November 23rd RFC Jamey O'Brien was patrolling various areas for deer dogging violations and again discovered a deer dog on private, unpermitted property. The dog owner was contacted and a violation for Failure to keep Hunting Dogs on Permitted property was documented. Later in the same day, RFC O'Brien checked a couple of hunters who were hunting deer without wearing orange. Two violations of Hunting Deer without Wearing Fluorescent Orange were documented.
On Sunday November 24th, RFC Jamey O'Brien concluded an investigation involving an individual possessing 2 highly dangerous, venomous snakes. A violation for possessing a wild animal without a permit/license was documented.
On Friday November 29th, RFC Jamey O'Brien and SGT Don Dasher were on patrol and observed a deer dog on private property. It was found that the deer dog was approximately 3 miles from the property it was permitted to be on. The owner was contacted and the dog was returned to its rightful owner. A violation of Failure to Keep Hunting Dogs on Permitted Property was documented.
EMANUEL COUNTY On Saturday November 30th while on patrol in the county, RFC Jamey O'Brien observed two individuals hunting deer without any visible orange being worn. After checking the two hunters, a total of 4 violations were documented: 2 for Hunting without Nonresident Hunting Licenses and 2 for Hunting Deer without Wearing Fluorescent Orange.
On November 27, RFC Clint Jarriel and SGT Jon Barnard checked a duck hunting area on the County Line Hunting Club in Emanuel County. After checking the hunters citations were wrote for Hunting w/o a license, hunting w/o a Federal Duck Stamp, Using Illegal ammo (lead), and Hunting w/ an unplugged shotgun. 8 citations and 9 Ducks were confiscated.

. On November 27, RFC Clint Jarriel and SGT Jon Barnard checked a duck hunting area on the County Line Hunting Club in Emanuel County. After checking the hunters 8 citations were issued for Hunting w/o a license, hunting w/o a Federal Duck Stamp, Using Illegal ammo (lead), and Hunting w/ an unplugged shotgun. A total of 9 ducks were confiscated.
ATKINSON COUNTY On November 27th, RFC Tim Hutto patrolled the Kirkland area for a duck roost shoot. At around 5:50 p.m. RFC Hutto heard shots coming from a pond off of Walker Circle. Three subjects were found to be hunting ducks after hours. Violations were documented for hunting waterfowl after hours, hunting without a federal duck stamp, hunting without a Georgia waterfowl license, and hunting ducks with lead shot. On November 28th, RFC Tim Hutto responded to a call from the Atkinson County Sheriff's Department to track a burglary suspect with K-9 Gauge. RFC Hutto used K-9 Gauge to track the suspect from a home in the Axson area. The subject was located and arrested for DUI. The case is still under investigation by Atkinson SO.

BERRIEN COUNTY On November 27th, RFC Tim Hutto patrolled around the Ray City area for duck hunting activity. Several groups of duck hunters were checked resulting in four citations for license violations
On November 30, Cpl. Morty Wood was on patrol in the 10 Mile Bay area off of June Hendley Road. Cpl. Wood located a female hunting deer without fluorescent orange. The lady was from Tennessee. After further checking she was found to be hunting without any type of license. Citations were issued for the offenses.
On November 30th, Cpl. Morty Wood located a duck roost shoot off of Wood-Williams Road in Enigma. Three hunters were checked and issued citations for hunting waterfowl after hours.
COFFEE COUNTY On Nov. 29th, RFC Joe Hilton was on routine patrol in Coffee County listening for dove and duck shoots. RFC Hilton encountered several individuals hunting doves. While checking license and shotguns for plugs, RFC Hilton realized the field was baited. Eight violations were documented for hunting doves over bait.
On Nov. 30th, RFC Joe Hilton was on routine patrol in Coffee County listening for dove shoots. RFC Hilton encountered several hunters in a field hunting doves. While performing license checks and checking shotguns for plugs, RFC Hilton noticed cracked corn spread in the peanut field. Six violations were documented for hunting doves over bait.
COOK COUNTY On Nov.23rd, Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey responded to an in-progress night deer hunting call. A Charge of Blinding Wildlife with Lights was documented.
On Nov. 28th, Cpl. Daughtrey checked a duck shoot in which several charges of Hunting without a Georgia Waterfowl License were documented. Later the same morning Cpl. Daughtrey checked a dove shoot that was found to be baited. Violations of hunting over bait and one charge of unlawful enticement were documented.
LOWNDES COUNTY On Nov. 27th, Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey checked a deer hunter in the Hahira area. The subject had no hunting license. Violations of Hunting w/o License and Hunting w/o Big Game License were documented.

On Nov 29th, Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey and Corporal Morty Wood checked a duck shoot in the Hahira area. Violations of Hunting with unplugged shotgun and Hunting w/o a Federal Duck Stamp were documented.
Region VII- Brunswick (Coastal)
MCINTOSH COUNTY On Friday November 29th Ranger Jay Bright responded to a complaint of two people dog hunting without permission in McIntosh County. Ranger Bright located the two hunters who were hunting without permission. They were cited for hunting deer with dogs on unpermitted property, no hunting license, no fluorescent orange, and warned for hunting deer without a big game license. On Saturday November 30th, Ranger Kate Hargrove responded to complaints from landowners of hunting dogs on unpermitted property. 3 citations and 2 warnings were issued to 2 clubs, 7 dogs were captured and returned to owners.

BRYAN COUNTY On Nov. 29th, Sgt. Phillip Scott patrolled the Richmond Hill WMA areas. He found that eight persons had illegally entered and were shooting at the WMA Shooting Range which is currently closed until January for construction and repairs. All eight adults were cited for violation of range rules.
On Nov. 30th, Ranger Jason Miller patrolled the Bryan Co-op Road and WMA areas, citing two deer-dogging hunters for failure to keep their dogs on permitted property.
LIBERTY COUNTY On Nov. 24th, RFC Jack Thain cited one hunter off of Hwy. 119 for hunting without a license.
MCINTOSH COUNTY On Nov. 25th, RFC Jack Thain, Sgt. Phillip Scott, and Sgt. Wayne Hubbard responded to a complaint about someone shooting deer at night in their backyard. RFC Thain cited the person for hunting deer at night and confiscated an eight-point buck.
On Nov. 30th, Cpl. Jay Morgan and Sgt. Phillip Scott patrolled the St. Catherine's and Sapelo Sounds, checking several fishermen and shrimp cast-netters. Two cast-netters were cited for fishing without a license. The rangers later checked in at the hunting camp at the Ossabaw Island WMA where a parent-child deer hunt was occurring. They talked to several of the parents and children about their hunting trip.
WAYNE COUNTY On November 28, 2013 Cpl Randy Aspinwall and Cpl Bobby White were patrolling in the area of Madray Springs when they heard a hot dove shoot going on. They found the shoot and started checking the hunters. As they were doing so they found cracked corn spread all over the field. There were a total of 15 hunters given citations for hunting dove over bait. A total of 117 dove were confiscated.
LONG COUNTY On November 28, 2013 Cpl Randy Aspinwall was patrolling in Long County when a car passed him in excess of 80 miles per hour. Aspinwall also noticed the vehicle was all over the road. He activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle. The female who was on her way to work was extremely intoxicated. Aspinwall contacted the Georgia State Patrol and turned the female over to them. The female ran a .23 BAC on the intoxilyzer. She was charge with DUI and failure to maintain lane.
BRANTLEY COUNTY On November 28th, RFC John Evans and Ranger Colte Shaske were working a duck hunting detail on the Satilla River. They watched a boat with three occupants come down river before daylight. The hunters shot ducks for about 45 minutes. When they started to leave, the Rangers stepped out to the sandbar to check them and discovered corn all over the sand and in the water. Ranger Shaske saw one of the hunters dump a hen wood duck

that was tied to an anchor over the side. The hunters were cited for hunting ducks over bait, taking over the limit, failure to allow inspection, and insufficient PFDs.
On November 28th, Cpl. Craig Smith was working a night hunting detail when he observed a vehicle coming down the road shinning a spotlight into the area he was watching. Cpl. Smith then got behind the vehicle and watched them as they shinned another area. Cpl. Smith stopped the vehicle and found four subjects inside with a handgun, shotgun, and spotlight. RFC John Evans, Cpl. Chris Ridley, and Ranger Colte Shaske responded to the stop to assist Cpl. Smith. Upon a search of the vehicle Cpl. Ridley found what is believed to be Marijuana. All four subjects were cited for hunting deer at night, hunting big game from a public road, hunting from a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana. On November 30th, Cpl. Chris Ridley and Ranger Colte Shaske were working a night hunting detail. The two had been in there spot less than five minutes when the first vehicle that came by shined a light out of the driver's side of the vehicle into the clear cut. The vehicle shined the entire clear cut and as it passed by the ranger's position the vehicle was pulled over. The two subjects in the vehicle were cited for blinding wildlife with lights. On November 30th, Cpl. Smith was working a night hunting detail with Cpl. Chris Ridley and Ranger Colte Shaske when they observed subjects shinning a light into the area they were watching. The vehicle continued on down the road and before they could get out on the road, another vehicle came by and shinned the same area. Cpl. Smith then proceeded to stop the first vehicle and Cpl. Ridley and Ranger Shaske stopped the second vehicle. All subjects were cited for blinding wildlife with lights.

On November 29th, Sgt. Chris Hodge responded to a complaint in reference to nonresident hunters hunting deer in Brantley County without hunting licenses. Upon arrival, Sgt. Hodge met with two subjects and discovered that one of the subjects did not have a Georgia hunting license. The other subject had used his daughter's address in Georgia to obtain a resident license. Sgt. Hodge also discovered during his investigation that one of the subjects had killed a small buck during primitive weapons season as well as a Bobcat during the month of October. Both subjects were cited for several violations and Sgt. Hodge was able to confiscate a small bag of deer meat and a set of antlers as well.
CAMDEN COUNTY On November 30th, Cpl. Craig Smith responded to a call reference a subject stuck on a sandbar in Crooked River with a child on board. The weather was cold and rainy and the boat was going to be on the bar for about 5 hours. Cpl. Smith responded to the area and got the child and father off the vessel and returned them to Crooked River State Park. On November 24th, Sgt. Chris Hodge was patrolling the north end of Camden County for dog deer hunting activity when he encountered a subject hunting from a public road. The subject was a member of a local dog hunting club and was standing on a county road with his shotgun in his hand. The subject was cited for hunting big game from a public road. CHATHAM COUNTY November 28th, Cpl. Chris Moore and Ranger Jordan Crawford patrolled the Ogeechee River. The officers checked 7 duck hunters and documented 5 violations ranging from hunting with unplugged shotgun to not having the required licenses. November 30th, Cpl. Chris Moore assisted the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with a youth waterfowl hunt at Port Wentworth, GA.
