Weekly Report October 21-27, 2012
This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Section.

Region I- Calhoun (Northwest)
CARROLL COUNTY On October 22nd, Cpl. Eric Brown responded to hunting without permission complaint around Whitesburg. A landowner encountered two subjects just before they began to hunt. Upon arriving one subject was located walking down a woods road on his way to talk with one of the landowners. After interviewing the subject it was determined that he and a partner had entered the area to hunt deer but he became nervous and was walking out of the woods to speak with the landowner. The second subject proceeded to hunt the area. The second subject was cited for hunting without orange and hunting without permission.
On October 24th, Cpl. Wil Smith received a call about in-progress hunting without permission. Cpl. Smith responded to Temple where he located a vehicle. Not knowing exactly where the poacher was located, he waited for him to return to the vehicle. Cpl. Smith made contact with the subject and learned that the subject had received permission several years ago but did not have current written permission. Cpl. Smith issued a warning per the landowner's request.
On October 26th, Cpl. Eric Brown responded to hunting without permission investigation outside of Carrollton. He met with the complainant who gave him pictures of the suspect that was caught hunting on the property. Cpl. Brown interviewed the suspect who admitted to being on the property coyote hunting. The subject was cited for hunting without a license and hunting without permission.
On October 27th, Cpl. Eric Brown was patrolling Carroll County in the Temple area. One subject was cited for hunting deer without orange.
On October 27th, Cpl. Eric Brown attended the annual wildlife supper at the First Baptist Church in Villa Rica. Cpl. Brown ran the fishing simulator for the group during the festivities.
DADE COUNTY On October 27th, Sgt. Jeff Galloway worked an area off of Duggan Loop Road where he had received complaints of gunshots after dark. Sgt. Galloway located a baited area on a power line and evidence of hunting. Sgt. Galloway set up surveillance in the area of the power line. About thirty minutes after dark, he observed an individual enter the baited area on foot who was hunting by moonlight. Sgt. Galloway arrested the subject who was from Alabama for hunting deer at night. An investigation revealed that the subject had killed three deer on previous nights at this location. These deer were confiscated by Sgt. Galloway and awarded to a needy family.

DOUGLAS COUNTY On October 21th, Cpl. Eric Brown was patrolling Douglas County for deer activity. He and Lt. Mike Barnhill with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office found two individuals hunting in the east part of the county. One subject from Florida was cited for hunting without a nonresident license, hunting without a nonresident big game license, and hunting without orange. The second subject was determined to be hunting over bait and was cited for hunting big game over bait, hunting without permission, failure to record a deer harvest, and illegal possession of wildlife. Later that afternoon, three subjects were encountered on property that was previously baited. One subject was cited for hunting without orange and another was cited for hunting without a license and hunting without a big game license.
FANNIN COUNTY On October 27th, RFC Cody Jones checked an area that was baited with corn and mineral blocks. Ranger Jones observed a subject who was hunting 30 yards from the bait and was not wearing fluorescent orange. The hunter had also set a trap to catch raccoons that were eating his deer corn. The subject was charged for hunting big game over bait and trapping out of season. Warnings were issued for not wearing orange and failure to put ID tags on traps.
On October 27th, RFC Cody Jones assisted a Sportsman's Ministry group with shooting skeet and .22 caliber rifles. Approximately 30 youth 15 adults attended.
FULTON COUNTY On October 27th, Sgt. Ricky Dempsey and RFC Chad Cox were checking baited deer stands in Palmetto. The rangers located two subjects hunting over the bait. Each subject was charged with hunting over bait and one was also cited for hunting without license.
GILMER COUNTY On October 22nd, Sgt. John VanLandingham and RFC Joe Hill were traveling west on Hwy 282, to check a complaint, when a vehicle following RFC Hill's patrol vehicle passed on a double yellow line while the vehicle in front of RFC Hill was completing a left turn. The officers stopped the vehicle and the driver was charged with passing in a no passing zone.
On October 27th, RFC Joe Hill was working a night hunting detail in Gilmer County. In the early hours of the morning, RFC Hill observed a Kubota utility vehicle, with two occupants shine a spotlight into the wooded area as they passed RFC Hill's location. RFC Hill followed the vehicle and watched the driver slowly sweep the next field with the utility vehicle headlights. RFC Hill stopped in the road as the utility vehicle turned around and came back toward his patrol vehicle. RFC Hill stopped the utility vehicle, questioned the two occupants and determined they were hunting coyotes. Both suspects were charged with hunting from a public road and hunting from a motor vehicle.

PICKENS COUNTY On October 21st, Cpl. James Keener was patrolling an area off of Shady Grove Rd. when he checked a hunter coming out of the woods dragging a 5 point buck. The subject was issued a warning for failure to record deer harvest record.
On October 27th, Cpl. James Keener and Sgt. John VanLandingham were patrolling an area off of Shady Grove Rd. when they observed a suspicious vehicle. Cpl. Keener walked into the woods near the vehicle and a short time later was able to locate a hunter. The hunter was without his fluorescent orange vest and was hunting over piles of corn and apples. The subject was issued citations for hunting big game over bait, and hunting deer without fluorescent orange.
POLK COUNTY On October 25th, Cpl. Wil Smith received a call about in-progress hunting without permission on Young's Farm Rd. A Polk County deputy spotted the suspects coming out of the woods and detained them until Cpl. Smith arrived. Cpl. Smith responded and spoke with the landowner where he learned that the suspects had been told several times to stay off of the land. After investigating the complaint, Cpl. Smith determined that the suspects were hunting squirrels on the land. Neither suspect had a hunting license and only one had completed a hunter education course. Both were charged with hunting on lands of another without permission.
Region II- Gainesville (Northeast)
HALL COUNTY On October 23, Cpl. Jason Roberson located two subjects hunting deer over bait in Hall County. Both subjects were issued citations for Hunting Big Game over bait. Citations for hunting without a license and hunting without a big game license were also issued.
On October 26, at approximately 0100, Sgt. Burgamy received a call from Sgt. Haney of the Hall Co. Sheriff's Office in reference to some possible illegal hunting. He stated that he was out at a location off N. Waterworks Rd. in Buford and had a cooler with fresh deer in it and an 11 point buck killed recently. Sgt. Burgamy responded to the location, made contact with the suspect (whom he had arrested before), and was able to obtain a confession of him killing the buck and a doe (meat that was in the cooler) on 10/19 and 10/24 respectively. The suspect was charged with 2 counts of hunting without a license, hunting without a big game license, failure to obtain a deer harvest record, failure to record deer harvest, possession of illegally taken wildlife, and 1 count of hunting with illegal weapon.
BANKS COUNTY On October 21, Cpl. Adam Loudermilk responded to a call about a deer being shot in Banks County. Upon arrival he located two male subjects cleaning a small buck deer. The

hunter's license was checked and the deer was not recorded on the harvest record. He was issued a citation for the violation.
On October 27, Cpl. Adam Loudermilk and Cpl. Jason Roberson checked an area that was baited for deer. They located one hunter hunting deer over the bait. The hunter was also not wearing his orange and did not have a hunting license. This hunter was issued one citation and two warnings for the violations. While checking this hunter it was determined that another subject was hunting across the road on property owned by Banks County. The hunter was located on the property and was not wearing orange. This hunter was issued one citation and one warning for hunting deer without orange and hunting without permission.
UNION COUNTY On the morning of October 26, Sgt. Steve Seitz and RFC Chad Chambers checked three separate areas in the County where hunters had bait placed near their deer stands. The officers located a man and his girlfriend in one of the baited stands. The stand was baited with corn and commercial bait mix. They were each issued citations for hunting big game over bait and warned for not wearing their orange. The other two baited stands were not being hunted on this morning.
Just before dark on this same date, Sgt. Seitz went back to check one of the baited stands that was not being hunted earlier in the morning. Sgt. Seitz located a hunter in the baited stand not wearing his orange vest. This stand was baited with whole kernel corn. The hunter was issued a citation for hunting big game over bait and warned for not wearing his orange vest while in the stand.
DAWSON COUNTY On October 27th, RFC Brandon Pierce and RFC Mitchell Crump patrolled Dawson Forest WMA in reference to the check-in hunt that was in progress. One violation for hunting without a WMA license was documented. Verbal guidance was given on several occasions to be in compliance with the laws and regulations of the state.
DEKALB COUNTY On October 22nd, Cpl. Eric Sanders conducted an On-Line Hunter Education Class. During this class a total of 23 students were certified in Hunter Education.
FORSYTH COUNTY On October 21st, RFC Brandon Pierce and Sgt. Lee Brown patrolled the county for any boating safety/hunting and fishing activity. As a result, a total of four fishing license, two boats, and one hunting license were checked. The check resulted in four violations being documented. The violations consisted of fishing without permission, unlawful bait in artificial lure stream, hunting deer without fluorescent orange, and hunting without hunter safety certification. The subjects fishing were given verbal guidance on other violations to be in compliance with the laws of the state.

On October 23rd, Cpl. Eric Sanders responded to a complaint of illegal hunting. Once in the area he encountered two subjects hunting deer. The two hunters were hunting with high a powered rifle which is illegal below GA Hwy 20 in this county. Cpl. Sanders found other infractions of hunting deer without the required licenses, hunting without permission and hunting without taking the Hunter Education Course. Citations and warnings were issued to the two hunters for the violations.
On October 26th, RFC Brandon Pierce patrolled the county in reference to baited stands that were found. One location was checked and two subjects were found in the stands. A father and son were hunting approximately 200 yards apart and neither was wearing the required 500 square inches of fluorescent orange. RFC Pierce got both subjects out of each stand where it was determined that one of the subjects had been drinking an amount of alcohol. The subject was tested and determined not to be under the influence. As a result of the check, a total of four violations were documented. The citations and warnings were issued to the father for hunting deer without fluorescent orange, hunting big game over bait, hunting without a license, and hunting without a big game license. Verbal guidance was given on other violations to be in compliance with the laws of the state. The subjects were escorted off the property and told that they couldn't hunt the stands until the bait was completely gone for 10 days.
GWINNETT COUNTY On October 27th, Cpl. Eddie Tompkins checked two hunters leaving an area where they had been hunting earlier in the morning. Upon inspection of the hunting license it was determined that the hunters did not have the required big game hunting license or deer harvest record. Warnings and verbal guidance were issued to the hunters.
STEPHENS COUNTY On October 27, Cpl. Bill Bunch checked an area for trespassing. While patrolling the property, Cpl. Bunch saw a hunter sitting in a field. He approached the hunter to check for permission. The hunter did not have hunting or a big game license. He also stated that his identification was at home and gave Cpl. Bunch a name. After checking the subject further, it was learned that the man had given his twin brothers name because he was a convicted felon. Cpl. Bunch arrested the man and called RFC Josh Chambers for assistance after learning that another hunter was on the property. RFC Chambers arrived and helped locate the other hunter. He did not have a license either. One man was charged for possession of a firearm by convicted felon, hunting without license, and hunting without a big game license. The other man was cited for hunting without a license and hunting without a big game license.
HART COUNTY On October 21, RFC Josh Chambers, Cpl. Craig Fulghum, and Sgt. Greg Colson assisted the Hart County Sheriff's Office with a safety check. The rangers issued three citations for failure to record deer harvest.

MADISON COUNTY On October 21, RFC Shane Sartor, RFC Tim Vickery, and Sgt. Stan Elrod assisted the Georgia State Patrol in Comer with a license and safety check. Rangers issued four citations for failure to record deer harvest.
Region III- Thomson (East Central)
WILKES COUNTY On Sunday October 21st, Sgt. Brian Carter and Cpl. Mark Patterson patrolled clubs known to have baited deer stands on them. Several violations were documented including hunting big game over bait, failure to record deer harvest, and failure to wear fluorescent orange. Sunday night Cpl. Patterson responded to a night hunting incident in which charges were made for hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a motor vehicle.
On Friday October 26th, Cpl. Mark Patterson checked several areas known to have baited deer stands. One subject was charged for hunting big game over bait. Cpl. Patterson and RFC Phillip Nelson responded to hunting without permission complaint. It was determined that the individuals involved were related to a club member and were allowed to be on the property.
On Saturday October 27th Cpl. Mark Patterson checked areas known to have baited deer stands and conducted a patrol of the Fishing Creek WMA. Violations documented were unlawful enticement and hunting within 50 yds of a WMA road.
OGLETHORPE COUNTY On Saturday October 27th, RFC Phillip Nelson and Tech 3 Kevin Von Seggern caught a subject riding on a four wheeler who stopped and shot a deer. The subject was charged with hunting from a public road and hunting from a motor vehicle.
ELBERT COUNTY On Friday October 26th, Cpl. Julian Wilkins caught a non-resident hunting with a resident license and hunting deer over bait. The subject had already killed a six point buck. The subject was issued citations for hunting without big game license and hunting over bait. The deer was confiscated.
RICHMOND COUNTY October 26th, Cpl. Ben Payne taught a Hunter Education Class at Alleluia Community School in Augusta. Seventeen 9th Grade students attended the class in the afternoon. All students passed the test and received their Hunter Education Certificates. Alleluia Community School incorporates the Hunter Safety Course into the school curriculum ensuring that all students take the course. Later in the afternoon Cpl. Payne checked without permission and bait complaints with no contacts documented.

JEFFERSON COUNTY During the week of October 21 27, RFC Grant Matherly checked two hunting without permission complaints in Jefferson County. No contact was made on either complaint. RFC Matherly also checked several hunters, with harvested deer. One subject from North Carolina was found to have two untagged deer and was cited for both.
BURKE COUNTY On Sunday October 21st, RFC Jeff Billips and Sgt. Max Boswell located two deer hunters on property without permission. Both hunters were not wearing required fluorescent orange. Violations were addressed accordingly.
On Friday October 26th, RFC Billips investigated a tree stand incident. The hunter climbed to the top of a 16 feet tall ladder stand when it collapsed. The hunter suffered broken vertebrae and ribs as well as a punctured lung. RFC Billips patrolled Di-Lane Plantation WMA's managed deer hunt. RFC Billips set up night hunting surveillance with no violator contact.
On Saturday October 27th, RFC Billips and Cpl. Ben Payne responded to a lost / missing juvenile hunter call. As the officer's arrived at the scene, the juvenile returned to his residence. The juvenile was not wearing a fluorescent orange vest and had not completed a hunter safety course. The juvenile was given hunting regulations and a hunter safety CD. The Juvenile's father was issued a citation for allowing underage to hunt without supervision. RFC Billips patrolled Di-Lane Plantation WMA's managed hunt. RFC Billips set up night hunting surveillance with no violator contact.
COLUMBIA COUNTY On October 24th RFC Bobby Timmerman responded to an in progress complaint of hunting without permission. When he arrived on scene he located a subject that had killed a doe deer. After further investigation Timmerman found where the deer had been shot over a pile of corn. The suspect did have permission to be on the property. He was charged with hunting over bait, hunting without orange, and possession of illegally taken wildlife.
MCDUFFIE COUNTY On October 27th Cpl. Brian Hobbins and Sgt. Doyte Chaffin patrolled two hunting clubs on which several baited deer stands had been located. Three hunters were cited for hunting deer over bait as well as one warning for hunting without orange.
TALIAFERRO COUNTY On October 27th RFC Leroy Ficklin checked baited deer stands and hunters in the Sharon and Crawfordville areas. One subjected was cited for nonresident hunting without license and nonresident hunting without big game license.
On the afternoon of October 27th Cpl. Brian Hobbins and Sgt. Doyte Chaffin were on routine patrol for deer hunting violations. The officers were contacted by the Sheriff who requested help for the search for an arson suspect. Several fires were set in wooded areas

scattered around the north part of the county. Officers checked deer camps in the area but were unable to locate the subject or vehicle that witnesses had seen.
MORGAN COUNTY On October 21st, RFC Ricky Boles cited one hunter for hunting big game over bait. The hunter was within 200 yards of three feeders.
On October 21st, RFC Ricky Boles and Sgt. Bo Kelly had three hunters bush bond (run). Subjects ran into the woods, hid their guns, and went into a nearby neighbor's house. Subjects were found and cited for hunting without license, hunting without big game license, and for not wearing fluorescent orange. Discretion was showed on the obstruction charges.
RFC Ricky Boles responded to a call of a vehicle being parked outside of an abandoned subdivision. Several issues have occurred in the past out of the same track of land. A person dressed in camouflage appeared out of the woods and approached the vehicle. Subject had no gun or no hunting paraphernalia with him at the time. RFC Boles found an orange vest and gun in the woods hid in stump hole. Criminal history Check showed the subject as being a convicted felon. Subject was interviewed and admitted to hunting on the property. Subject was arrested and charged for hunting without permission, hunting without orange and convicted felon hunting with firearm.
RFC Ricky Boles participated in the Pennington's Annual Kid's Hunt held on October 26 and 27. Among answering several questions about hunting, RFC Boles gave a one hour presentation on hunter safety to nine young hunters and approximately thirty adults. Several deer were killed during the hunt.
On October 27th, RFC Boles issued a citation to a hunter for not wearing his fluorescent orange while deer hunting.
NEWTON COUNTY On October 27th, RFC Fred Hays and Sgt. John Harwell checked a location in Newton County where bait was previously located. Three subjects were located hunting in the area. Two subjects were not wearing fluorescent orange. Two hunters did not have any of the required licenses. One subject had failed to record his deer harvest from two deer taken on opening day. Citations were issued for all violations.
On October 27th, RFC Hays and Sgt. Harwell presented a program to 120 kids at the Boy Scout Camp in Newton County. They discussed how to become a Conservation Ranger and the adventures of being a Conservation Ranger.
GREENE COUNTY On October 21st, Cpl. Derrell Worth and RFC Richard Tanner issued a citation to a hunter for hunting deer on Redlands WMA without a WMA license.

On October 21st, while patrolling Redlands WMA, Cpl. Derrell Worth, RFC Richard Tanner, and Officer Zach Nichols issued 3 warnings to subjects hunting without having taken a hunter safety course.
On October 21st and 26th Cpl. Derrell Worth issued citations for hunting big game over bait.
On October 22nd, Cpl. Worth issued a citation to a taxidermist for operating a taxidermy business without a license.
On the morning of October 27th, Sgt. John Harwell and Cpl. Derrell Worth issued a citation to a subject hunting big game over bait. In the afternoon, Cpl. Worth issued two subjects citations for hunting without permission, one subject for not wearing fluorescent orange and arrested one for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Region IV- Macon (West Central)
BLECKLEY COUNTY On the night of October 27th RFC Josh Swain received a call in regards to a night hunting incident in Bleckley County. A landowner had observed two subjects night hunting on his property and had detained the subjects until sheriff's deputies arrived. RFC Swain and Cpl John Harkins responded to the scene. After investigation and questioning of the subjects, both men were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a vehicle, and hunting from a public road.
BUTTS COUNTY

On October 27 RFC Keith Page and Sgt. Tim Kendrick entered a hunting club where the sergeant had previously located several baited deer stands. The officers found two men hunting over bait and hunting without wearing an orange vest. Both men were issued citations for hunting big game over bait and hunting without fluorescent orange clothing.
CRAWFORD COUNTY On the morning of October 27th RFC Josh Swain located a truck, the bed of which contained corn and dried blood. Officer Swain walked into the woods in order to locate the subject and discovered an individual hunting with his two sons; they were found to be hunting over bait. Officer Swain issued the subject a warning for the infraction.
LAMAR COUNTY

On October 21 RFC Keith Page checked a complaint of hunting without permission on Yellow Holly Road. After entering the woods, RFC Page located two men standing next to a tree with loaded shotguns. The men were also hunting over bait and neither one of them had a hunting license, a big game license, a harvest record, or an orange vest. RFC Page issued citations for hunting without permission, hunting big game over bait, and hunting without a license/non-resident license. Page also issued warnings for hunting

On October 21 RFC Keith Page checked a baited deer stand on Van Burean Road. RFC Page found a hunter sitting in the stand that had a pile of crushed beets in front of it. The man received a citation for hunting big game over bait.

On October 21 RFC Keith Page and Sgt. Tim Kendrick checked a hunting club upon which Page had previously located a baited deer stand. Page and Kendrick were able to locate two men, both of who were hunting over bait and hunting without wearing an orange vest. One of the men was also found to have killed a deer without recording it on his harvest record. Page issued citations for hunting big game over bait. He also issued warnings to both men for hunting without wearing an orange vest. The hunter who had previously killed a deer was warned for not recording his deer harvest.
MERIWETHER COUNTY On October 27th Sgt. Brent Railey responded to a hunting without permission complaint in Meriwether County. Sgt. Railey checked three hunters on the property and issued one individual warnings for hunting without a license and hunting big game without a big game license. The investigation regarding the permission complaint continues.
MONROE COUNTY

On October 27 Sgt. Tim Kendrick, RFC Billy Bryant and K9 Drake located a subject hunting deer over bait off of Highway 42, north of Forsyth. The Rangers later located two additional hunters on the property. The other two hunters were not over bait but one did not have a hunting license and the other was not wearing the required fluorescent orange vest. RFC Bryant issued citations for hunting big game over bait, hunting deer without fluorescent orange, and issued a warning for hunting without license.
MUSCOGEE COUNTY On October 21st Cpl. Mitch Oliver, Cpl. Jeremy Bolen, and Sgt. Jim Bradfield were checking hunters at Standing Boy WMA in Muscogee County. The officers had a vehicle approach their location and the driver of this vehicle stopped to ask questions about hog hunting on the area. The driver caught the officers' attention because he was wearing a fluorescent orange vest and Standing Boy WMA is an archery only area. While talking with the hunter Cpl. Oliver noticed a gun case on the back seat of the car. The hunter said that he had been walking on the WMA hunting for hogs and deer with his shotgun. While discussing the firearms violation with this hunter, a second hunter walked up to the officers carrying a rifle. This hunter said that he had read the sign at the kiosk that said archery only but thought that it only applied to archery season not firearms season. Both hunters were charged with hunting on a closed WMA for firearms hunting on an archery only WMA. The first hunter was also charged with possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle on a WMA. The second hunter was also charged with hunting within 50 yards of a WMA road.

UPSON COUNTY

On October 21 Cpl. Susan Morris was checking an area in Upson County where she had discovered corn in feeders earlier in the month. She walked up on one hunter, hunting over corn. He came out of the stand and walked with her back to camp. He told her there was another hunter in the woods on another piece of property nearby. She was unaware of the location of the property or where the hunter may be. She asked the hunter with her if he could take her to the location and to the other hunter. She advised him that he was going to be charged with hunting big game over bait and if he took her to his friend, he was most likely hunting over bait as well and would also be charged. The hunter still agreed to take her. When they arrived at the new location, Cpl. Morris saw the hunter, went to the area he was hunting and saw no corn. She asked him where the corn was and he showed her. It was about 150 feet from where he was hunting scattered all along a path. Both hunters were cited for hunting big game over bait.
Region V- Albany (Southwest)
DECATUR COUNTY On October 21st, Sgt. Rick Sellars conducted a patrol on Silver Lake WMA and cited two subjects for hunting deer on a closed WMA.
On October 27th, Sgt. Rick Sellars, RFC Tony Cox, and Ranger Jace Heard conducted patrols on Silver Lake WMA, citing three subjects for hunting deer on a closed WMA. Sgt. Sellars also conducted a foot patrol on Lake Seminole WMA and cited two subjects for transporting loaded firearms in a vehicle on a WMA.
WORTH COUNTY On the evening of October 25th, Cpl. Greg Wade was conducting a patrol to address night deer hunting activity, when he heard 911 dispatch deputies to a "shots fired" call. The caller advised that he had been shot at by the occupants of a red Dodge truck as they were turning around in his yard. Suspecting the report was probably related to illegal hunting activity, Cpl. Wade headed to the area in question. The truck was located and stopped by Worth County deputies, and during the interview conducted by Cpl. Wade, the two occupants of the truck told the officers that two other suspects were out on foot in a field, attempting to locate the deer. Cpl. Wade then located these additional suspects, which lead to the four being charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a vehicle, and hunting big game from a public road.
THOMAS COUNTY On October 21st, RFC Jon Penuel and Corporal Mike Binion were patrolling in the southern part of the county when they located several subjects hunting doves over bait. Each of the hunters was cited for the violation.
TURNER COUNTY On October 27th, while working a night deer hunting complaint, Ranger Chad Hulsey observed a vehicle being driven slowly along a road as a light was directed from the driver's side window into a field. Hulsey conducted a traffic stop and found a male

subject driving the vehicle as a female sat in the back seat. Hulsey interviewed the driver who admitted to hunting deer. The driver of the vehicle was charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a vehicle.
LEE COUNTY On October 24th, RFC Randy James was working a hunting without permission complaint on Senah Plantation property. At approximately 7:45 p.m. two subjects were located hunting on the plantation wearing camouflage and without the required fluorescent orange vest. The two were arrested and transported to the Lee County jail for processing. The subjects were charged with hunting without permission, hunting deer without fluorescent orange, hunting without a license, and hunting without a big game license.

TOOMBS COUNTY On Oct 27th, Sgt. Jon Barnard and RFC Clint Jarriel investigated a complaint about a nonresident hunter from Florida hunting without licenses. Sgt. Barnard located the hunter and verified he had no licenses and discovered the hunter had killed two deer. RFC Jarriel located the two deer at a processor in Reidsville where the hunter had taken them. RFC Jarriel issued the hunter citations for non-resident hunting w/o a license, non-resident hunting without a big game license and possession of illegally taken wildlife and confiscated the two deer.
On Oct 28th, Sgt. Jon Barnard and RFC Clint Jarriel responded to a landowner complaint about hunting without permission. Upon arriving to the complaint area a white Toyota pick-up was found parked on the complainants land. The officers waited for the suspect to come back to the truck. The officers observed the hunter exit the woods without wearing his fluorescent orange vest. The hunter had permission to hunt the adjoining property and was issued a warning for hunting deer without fluorescent orange.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY On Oct 26th, Sgt. Jon Barnard was working a night deer hunting complaint in the southern end of the county when a vehicle approached his location. The vehicle slowed down and a light was shined from the vehicle into the complaint area. The vehicle a white GMC pick-up was stopped and the driver was removed from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .22 magnum rifle and a belt type coon hunting light in the front passenger side seat of the truck. The driver was issued citations for hunting deer at night, hunting from a vehicle and hunting big game from a public road.
DODGE COUNTY On October 21st, RFC Allen Mills was conducting an area check at the Dodge County PFA and encountered two anglers without a WMA license and one vessel without C.G.A. P. F. D.'s. Three violations were documented. RFC Mills also gave verbal guidance on the new G.O.R.P. license requirements to a group of twelve individuals.

On October 26th, RFC Allen Mills was conducting an area check at the Dodge County PFA and encountered two anglers fishing without a license, fishing without a WMA license on a PFA, and fishing on a PFA after sunset and before sunrise. Six violations were documented. RFC Mills also gave verbal guidance on the new G.O.R.P. license requirements to a group of five individuals.
On October 27th, RFC Allen Mills was conducting an area check at the Dodge County PFA and encountered an individual fishing without a license and fishing without a WMA license on a PFA. Both violations were documented. RFC Mills also gave verbal guidance on the new G.O.R.P. license requirements to three individuals.
On October 21st , while investigating a report of illegal night hunting, Cpl. Stiles initiated a vehicle stop near a residence associated with the investigation and subsequently arrested an individual for driving on a suspended/revoked license. The individual was turned over to the Dodge Co. Sheriff's office.
On October 22nd, while continuing an investigation of illegal night hunting, Cpl. Stiles located a vehicle on property associated with the suspects of his investigation which contained drug paraphernalia in plain view in the rear of the vehicle. Cpl. Stiles located three individuals on the property and a search of the vehicle containing the drug paraphernalia produced a significant quantity of suspected marijuana. Two of the individuals were charged with hunting violations associated with the investigation and the third person was turned over to the Dodge Co. Sheriff's office and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug related objects.
LAURENS COUNTY On October 27th, RFC Mills, Cpl. James McLaughlin, and RFC Rodney Horne patrolled the Riverbend WMA during an adult/child big game check in hunt. Verbal guidance was given for minor violations.
On October 22nd, Cpl. Stiles received information of a hunting incident that occurred in Laurens County on October 20, 2012. Cpl. Stiles began an investigation and learned that a 72 year old man had fallen from a deer stand on the evening of October 20 near the Johnson/Laurens/Wilkinson County lines. Cpl. Stiles investigated the remote location and determined the incident occurred in Johnson County. Cpl. Stiles completed the investigation and determined that the victim was not wearing a safety harness or fall arrest system and fell 14 feet from a metal ladder stand while hunting deer. The victim was able to contact another hunter on the property by cell phone for assistance. The victim was transported to a Macon hospital by helicopter and had sustained multiple fractures, a punctured / collapsed lung, and other less severe injuries.
On October 27th, Cpl. Stiles presented an Information and Education program at the Dublin Mall in conjunction with the Laurens County EMA Emergency Preparedness fair. Cpl. Stiles displayed his patrol vehicle to the public, answered questions from the public, and distributed hunting and fishing regulations and other materials produced by the WRD.

TELFAIR COUNTY On October 21st, Cpl. Stiles investigated a complaint of a deer shot after dark in Telfair County. The investigation continued on October 22nd , and resulted in two individuals from Dodge County being charged with hunting from a vehicle, hunting from a public road, and hunting deer at night. The two individuals shot a deer adjacent to a local church after dark, retrieved the deer and then discarded the deer in a ditch of a nearby road. RFC Rodney Horne and Cpl. James McLaughlin assisted in the investigation.
On October 27th, Cpl. John Stokes patrolled the Horse Creek WMA during a big game archery only sign-in hunt. Cpl. Stokes checked several hunters for license compliance. No violations were detected.
COFFEE COUNTY On October 24th, RFC Hilton responded to hunting without permission complaint in Coffee County. The complainant stated he encountered an individual hunting on the property he leased, without permission. The complainant also stated he found a spent round at the base of the stand in which the individual was hunting from. The complainant got the individuals name and vehicle description. RFC Hilton began an investigation and made contact with the individual which was hunting without permission. When the investigation was completed it was discovered the individual killed a buck on the opening morning of firearms season. The individual was issued citations for hunting without permission and possession of illegally taken wildlife.
LANIER COUNTY On October 25th, RFC Tim Hutto and K-9 partner "Gauge" worked an ongoing night hunting complaint. At around 9:30 p.m. RFC Hutto observed a truck approach the area he was watching and shine a remote controlled spotlight "Go-Light" into a soybean field. RFC Hutto initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and questioned the suspect. After questioning the suspect and securing a loaded .300 magnum rifle, the suspect was arrested and transported to the Lanier County Sheriff's Office. A search of the truck revealed fresh deer hair and blood. The suspect admitted to killing a doe earlier in the day without hunting licenses. Offenses were documented for hunting deer at night, hunting from a vehicle, hunting big game from a public road, hunting without a license, hunting without a big game license, and possession of illegally taken wildlife.
On October 26th, RFC Tim Hutto and Sgt. Patrick Dupree concluded an investigation into a subject who had harvested both deer and turkeys and had never purchased a hunting license. The officers found evidence that the subject had killed numerous deer and a trophy tom turkey during the 2012 hunting season as well as the 2011 season. The subject admitted to having never bought a hunting license and to taking the game animals. Offenses were documented for hunting without a license, hunting without a big game license, and possession of illegally taken wildlife. Arrangements were made to surrender the wildlife to Georgia DNR.

LOWNDES COUNTY On October 27th, RFC Keith McDonald concluded an investigation involving illegal placement of bait on Grand Bay WMA. Two separate bait sites were located by RFC McDonald. Two individuals were cited for illegal placement of bait on a WMA.
BERRIEN COUNTY On October 27th, RFC McDonald patrolled Paradise PFA for fishing activity. Multiple violations were detected. Citations and written warnings were issued for fishing without a license, fishing without a WMA stamp on a PFA, and possession of illegally taken wildlife.
BULLOCH COUNTY On October 26th, Cpl. Eddie Akins patrolled in the Leefield area over to Oliver Bridge Wildlife Management Area for hunting activity. His efforts led to six hunting licenses being checked and no violations being detected.
On October 27th, Cpl. Eddie Akins and Sgt. Don Dasher patrolled the Oliver Bridge WMA and areas across the lower portion of Bulloch County for hunting activity. Their efforts led to two hunting licenses being checked and no violations being detected. That afternoon Cpl. Akins patrolled across lower Bulloch County Line on the Bulloch-Bryan County lines. His efforts led to three licenses being checked and two violations detected. The violations were hunting without a license and hunting without a big game license.
EFFINGHAM COUNTY On October 24th, Cpl. Shaymus McNeely responded to an in progress hunting deer at night call, in the area of Old Louisville road and Newman road. After meeting with a witness Cpl McNeely was able to track the suspects to an address on Heidt landing road in Pinenora. Witnesses on Old Louisville road had seen three white males in a midnineties Ford truck shine soybean fields with a spotlight and shoot at deer in one of the fields with a shotgun. At the Heidt landing address Cpl. McNeely located all three suspects, the truck described, the spotlight, and the shotgun. The three suspects were given an opportunity to make a statement. The two adults were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a vehicle, and hunting big game from a public road.
ECHOLS COUNTY On October 21st, Sgt. Patrick Dupree and Ranger Sam Williams were patrolling for deer dogging activity along GA Hwy 187 near Haylow. The officers observed two dog-deer hunters standing on the public right-of-way with their guns. Both were issued written warnings for hunting big game from a public road.
CLINCH COUNTY On October 27th, CPL Jason Shipes, RFC Mark Pool, & RGR Sam Williams patrolled several hunting clubs for deer-dogging activity. Two individuals were encountered with loaded shotguns on a public road. An adult male subject was issued a citation for hunting big game from a public road and a juvenile female was given verbal guidance for hunting

big game from a public road. Two other deer hunters were encountered without a deer harvest record. Both were warned for the violation.
Region VII- Brunswick (Coastal)
BRYAN COUNTY On Oct. 21st, Cpl. Phillip Scott, Cpl. Chris Moore, and Ranger Jason Miller cited a deer hunter on the Richmond Hill WMA on Back Trail for hunting deer without wearing fluorescent orange and for possession of buckshot on a WMA.
On Oct. 25th, Cpl. Chris Moore cited a deer hunter on Richmond Hill WMA on the Kilkenny Tract for driving in an unauthorized area, failure to record deer harvest, failure to sign out deer harvest at check-in booth, and littering.
LIBERTY COUNTY On Oct. 27th, Cpl. Jay Morgan and Ranger Trey Taylor were checking deer hunters in Liberty County when they checked the rack of a 10-point buck harvested the day before by Ms. Sherry Hargett on the Double Barrel Hunting Club. The buck had two two-inch spikes on the back of the left antler to make it a 10-point. They are waiting to have it scored.

On the afternoon of Oct. 27th, Cpl. Jay Morgan conducted an HIN/boat inspection at the Ga. Forestry Office in Midway, helping two boat owners register their boats.
CAMDEN COUNTY On October 26th, Sgt. Chris Hodge was contacted by the Kingsland Police Department and asked to assist with locating a missing 88 year old dementia patient in the Laurel Island subdivision. Investigators also requested aviation support from the Georgia State Patrol. Officers searched for several hours and were able to locate the man in a wooded area behind his residence. The man was brought out of the woods exhausted, but otherwise in good condition. The Camden County EMS transported the man to a local hospital for observation.
GLYNN COUNTY On October 21st, RFC John Evans came upon a wreck on Post Rd in Glynn County. The vehicle's driver had lost control of his van when he swerved to avoid a dog. The vehicle left the road and hit a culvert. RFC Evans provided assistance to the driver and stayed on the scene until State Patrol Troopers arrived on scene.
On October 26th, RFC John Evans responded to the Blythe Island boat in reference to an ongoing crabbing investigation on the Turtle River. RFC Evans met with the commercial crabber who admitted to setting out 35 illegal traps. Citations were issued to him and the license owner and the fishermen returned to the river to remove all the illegal traps.
On October 26th, RFC John Evans and SGT Chris Hodge received a call that workers on Jekyll Island had found a deer that was suspected to have been shot by night hunters. RFC Evans and SGT Hodge retrieved the deer from a pond on the island and were able to recover evidence from the deer. The investigation is ongoing into the suspected night hunting activity.
