TAKE YOUR FAMILY ON A GETAWAY ON "GEORGIA OUTDOORS"
SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. (December 28, 2001) - Join "Georgia Outdoors" exciting new season as
the beauty and history of the state and the creatures that live here come alive on this exciting show. Join
Michael Skinner, the host of "Georgia Outdoors," as he explores some fun family getaways during the
episode scheduled to air Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 11 at 11:00 p.m. on Georgia Public
Television (GPTV). "Georgia Outdoors" partners with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources,
Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) to inform and educate citizens about exciting conservation-oriented
outdoor activities and great places to pursue them.
"There is no better way to re-connect with your loved ones than taking off on a family getaway,"
says David Waller, WRD Director. "This episode will give viewers a chance to see some different ways of
exploring Georgia and spending some valuable time together."
On this episode of "Georgia Outdoors," Michael Skinner will explore some newer hot spots along
the Chattahoochee River, including stops in White County and Muscogee County. Gov. Roy Barnes
endorsed the concept of a Chattahoochee River Regional Park during the 2000 legislative session by
allocating funds to acquire lands along the river. The vision for the funding is to create ten natural nodes
along the river that would be available to the public as state parks and other natural areas and providing
access to the river. Skinner also will explore trout fishing opportunities for metro-Atlanta anglers on the
Chattahoochee River below the Morgan Fall Dam.
