A photo exhibit fundraiser featuring the Clark Atlanta University Jazz Ensemble was held at City Hall East, East by East Gallery on December 7. The Second Annual Creek Art Show 2000 was held to bring awareness to the problems that threaten Atlanta's streams and creeks.
The fundraising event was hosted by the City of Atlanta and Non Profits for Non Profits, Inc. The photo exhibit, "Through the Eyes of A Child, Do You See What I See," documented unique images of both environmentally threatened and healthy streams. The photos, taken by 10 to 12 year olds, convey the state of our streams.
This past summer, the City of Atlanta and the Center for Environmental Public Awareness worked with 15 students from two Camp Best Friends summer programs, teaching them the importance of water quality and the role of non-point pollutants in the degradation of our streams. The students were taught basic photography techniques, which they utilized to photograph visible water quality problems along streams in their community.
Host organizations included: South River Gardens Community Association, South River Watershed Alliance, Southside Stream & Creek Keeper, Peachtree Woodall-Whetstone Watershed Alliance, Peavine Watershed Alliance, Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance. The sponsors of the event are Brown & Caldwell, CH2M HILL, Thacker Operating Company, Inc. and the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.

During the event, program participants took part in a silent auction of the photos. The proceeds from the art show will help to support on-going education and the efforts of the participating non-profit stream protection organizations.
