Georgia Farm to School 5 Million Meal Challenge: Pledge Deadline Approaching Last year, Georgia schools served 3 million meals featuring locally grown produce. Georgia Organics aims to push that number to 5 million this year. So far over 30
districts have pledged to serve local food this year! Districts have until May 24,
2013 to sign the pledge.

Call for Proposals: Georgia Outdoor Learning Symposium Proposal submissions are now being accepted for the Georgia Outdoor Learning Symposium to be held October 4, 2013 in Savannah. This year's theme is "Grow Outdoors: Outdoor Learning from Preschool to High School." Sessions will focus on the creation, use and maintenance of outdoor learning spaces. Submissions due May 31, 2013.

Georgia Teacher Receives Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators Ford Elementary's Mary Catherine Padgett (Ford Elementary School) was one of 11 teachers from across the country honored with the 2013 Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators.
2013 Georgia Green Ribbon School Honorees Recipients of the second annual U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools Award and the inaugural District Sustainability Award were announced in a ceremony on Earth Day 2013. Among the honorees are Acworth's Ford Elementary School and Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Knight Elementary Receives $30,000 Grant for Outdoor Learning Center
Lilburn's Knight Elementary School was awarded a $30,000 grant to build a new outdoor learning center. The funds came from the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency and the Greening Youth Foundation.
