Eco-Friendly Holiday Tips
Americans throw away 25% more trash during the Thanksgiving to New Year's holiday period than any other time of year. Check out these tips for trimming your holiday wasteline.
Travel Opportunities for Educators
Get out of the classroom and into the field to learn about cutting edge research and conservation efforts, develop professional skills, and make a difference for our shared environment. A diverse selection of travel/learning opportunities for educators is currently available from South Africa, Japan, Cuba, Mexico, Galapagos and Costa Rica to Hawaii, Alaska, and Yellowstone.
Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act Provides Funding for Farm-to-School Programs
This legislation provides $40 million over five years in mandatory funding for farmto-school progr ams, ensuring that more children are able to eat local, healthy produce, create school gardens, and use more local foods.
National Farm to School Month Designated
Beginning in 2011, October will be National Farm to School Month. Efforts will include encouraging schools and local education agencies to use local produce in meals throughout the month of October and raising community awareness of local Farm to School efforts.

High School Science Teachers Needed for Curriculum Field Test
High school science teachers are needed to field-test Carbon Connections, a new, online curriculum module featuring three units designed to support teaching the carbon cycle and climate science. Apply by December 17, 2010.
Fisheries & Aquatics Education and Outreach Symposium: Call for Presentations
The American Fisheries Society is seeking proposals from education and outreach specialists for their 2011 International Conference. If you're interested in sharing your successes, ideas, and resources, please submit your notification of intent by Friday, December 21, 2010.
Call for Contributions: Bringing the Ocean to the Classroom
The spring 2011 issue of Green Teacher, a non-profit magazine for youth educators, will focus on marine education. You can contribute by submitting your best marine education photos by January 5, 2011!
Graduate Fellowship in Residential Environmental Education
Now accepting applications for Fall 2011! A northwoods Wisconsin residential learning experience culminating in a master's degree in natural resources, with a focus in residential environmental education. Priority will be given to applications received by January 31, 2011.
2011 EEA Conference Registration Now Open
The Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) of Georgia's "Sustaining a Changing World: Environment, Economy, Community" conference will be held on Friday, March 11 at Kennesaw State University Continuing Education Center in Kennesaw, GA. The discounted registration price is available until February 11 so be sure to register early!!
