Educators Needed for Waste in Place Curriculum Update
As part of a Waste in Place curriculum update, Keep America Beautiful is looking for pre-K to 6th grade formal or non-formal educators to participate in a focus group or volunteer their facility as a test site. Deadline is October 8, 2010.
$1,000 Scholarships for 2011 Monarchs in Mexico Trips
Monarchs Across Georgia, a committee of the Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) of Georgia, is offering two $1,000 scholarships to Georgia educators (formal or informal) to travel to the monarch butterfly overwintering sites in Mexico in February 2011. Applications are due October 15, 2010.

Free Kites and Resources From Alaska Wild Educator
Network
The Alaska Wilderness League, a non-profit conservation organization, recently began a program called the Alaska Wild Educator Network. The Network will provide educators with free kite kits and materials to teach students about the many unique ecosystems and animals of Alaska. The kites are symbolic of the birds that travel through your state to the Refuge on their migrations every year. Order before October 18, 2010!

Deep-Sea Ecosystems
This free online workshop, "Lessons from the Deep: Exploring the Gulf of Mexico's Deep-Sea Ecosystems," will feature presentations from scientists, a selection of lesson plans, and additional information about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The workshop dates are October 11-29, 2010. Registration is required.
