Richard Louv Scheduled to Speak at UGA
Richard Louv, author of The Last Child In The Woods and co-founder of the Children & Nature Network will speak at 4pm, April 24, 2009 at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, GA. The event is free and open to the public. To compliment Mr. Louv's talk, a "Nature Smart Schools Symposium" focused on the design of school grounds is also being planned. Note: Richard Louv was originally scheduled to speak on April 17, but was rescheduled for April 24.

The not-for-profit organization, Earth Explore Foundation, offers middle school teachers and their students the opportunity to study environmental issues in Hawaii and Alaska during the summer of 2009.

Natural Inquirer Research Opportunity
The USDA Forest Service's publication, the Natural Inquirer, is part of a project examining environmental education in the classroom. If you are selected to participate, a $500 stipend will be awarded to your classroom. Data will begin in the spring of 2009. Please respond as soon as possible before March 1, 2009.
White House Organic Farm Project
Georgia Organics is encouraging youth of all ages to mail in letters and pictures for the White House Organic Farm Project. Georgia Organics wil display all the letters and pictures at the Georgia Organics Conference and then send them directly to Washington D.C. All projects due by March 1, 2009.
EE Alliance of Georgia Conference Registration Open
The Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) of Georgia 2009 conference: "Learning from the Land... Then, Now and in the Future" will be held at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center March 13-14, 2009. The advance/discounted registration deadline is open now - February 28, 2009.
Georgia Organics Conference Registration Open
The Georgia Organics' 12th Annual Conference will be held March 20-21 on the beautiful campus of Agnes Scott College. A special "Farm to School" track will be offered for educators, parent volunteers, and others interested in creating school gardens, serving healthy meals in school cafeterias, improving student nutrition, supporting small local farmers, and offering garden-based education opportunities.
