Eco-Schools Program Launches in USA Eco-Schools is an internationally acclaimed program that provides a framework to help educators integrate sustainable principles throughout their schools and curriculum. As of October, 2009, Eco-Schools is currently being implemented in 43 countries around the world, involving 27,000 schools, 400,000 teachers, and 6 million students. The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) was recently granted Eco-School host status for K-12 schools in the United States.

New Grant Honors Life of Environmental Educator, Petey Giroux
The Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) of Georgia is pleased to offer mini-grant awards for up to $1,000 for Environmental Education / Performing and Visual Arts Projects in honor of Environmental Educator, Petey Giroux (1945-2008). Two more weeks left to apply! The deadline for applications is November 30, 2009.
Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Initiative will help school administrators transition to purchasing more locally grown foods. "Farm-To-School Tactical Teams" will soon begin touring America's school cafeterias to identify challenges and opportunities to help them transition to purchasing more locally grown foods.
Call for Manuscripts for Comparative Education Review
The journal Comparative Education Review is requesting manuscripts for a special 2010 issue, "Educators and the Environment: World Lessons for a Sustainable World". They seek critical assessments of existing model programs and policy initiatives in environmental education and education for sustainable development at the school, local community, national, and international levels. The issue is anticipated to appear in August or November 2010.
NAAEE Call for 2010 Conference Proposals
The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) has issued a call for presentations and workshops for its Annual Conference and Research Symposium, "Environmental Education: Building Connections Bridging Gaps" in Buffalo-Niagra, New York, September 29 - October 2, 2010. The submission deadline for both conference and symposium is February 1, 2010.
