PURSUANT TO ARTICLE VII, SECTION II, PARAGRAPH IV OF THE STATE CONSTITUTION, THE FOLLOWING LOCAL BILLS RELATING TO HOMESTEAD
EXEMPTIONS REQUIRE A TWO-THIRDS ROLL-CALL VOTE FOR PASSAGE: HB 272 by Representative Holcomb of the 81st CITY OF CHAMBLEE: This bill increases a city of Chamblee homestead exemption from $30,000 to $50,000 for those under the age of 65.
HB 273 by SUBSTITUTE by Representative Holcomb of the 81st CITY OF CHAMBLEE: This bill amends a city of Chamblee homestead exemption for those 65 and older or those who are totally disabled in order to provide that the exemption does not apply for taxes levied by the city to pay interest on and to retire bonded indebtedness.
HB 462 by Representative Smith of the 70th COWETA COUNTY: This bill amends a Coweta County school district homestead exemption by raising the exemption amounts. Each resident who is 65 years of age but less than 71 years of age shall be granted a $60,000 exemption. Each resident who is 71 years of age but less than 75 years of age is granted an $85,000 exemption. Each resident who is 75 years or older is granted an $115,000 exemption.
