HR 1507 House of Representatives; amend Rules to allow for virtual meetings
Bill Summary: HR 1507 amends the Rules for the Georgia House of Representatives to allow for official virtual or electronic meetings during emergency circumstances as authorized by the speaker of the House. In these instances, public meetings will be available virtually and electronically.
The rules are also amended to allow the House to conduct the business of the General Assembly away from the State Capitol during an emergency, to include a provision for virtual attendees to be counted for a quorum and present to exercise their session duties and privileges. Under these circumstances, a vote may be taken through a phone, and documents may be delivered electronically, at which point establishes the start of any time requirement for a bill to be "on the desk".
