HB 29 Skidaway Island, City of; compliance with constitutional requirements; provide
Bill Summary: House Bill 29 amends the act to incorporate the city of Skidaway Island by providing for two homestead exemptions. The first provides for a $12,000 city tax exemption from the assessed value of the home for each resident. The second provides a homestead exemption, which has the effect of a valuation freeze, for each resident of the city. Lastly, the bill states the election superintendent of Chatham County shall call a special election on the third Tuesday in March 2019 in order to approve the exemptions and incorporate the city within Chatham County.
