Bill Summary: This bill adds an 11th judge to the Superior Court of the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit. The additional judge is appointed by the governor for a term beginning January 1, 2020 and continuing through December 31, 2022, and until his or her successor is elected. The judge has the same powers, duties, dignity, jurisdiction, privileges, and immunities as other superior court judges, and is authorized to employ court personnel as his or her counterparts in the Gwinnett Circuit. The non-partisan judicial election will be held in 2022. The term, starting January 1, 2023, is for four years.
