Bill Summary: House Bill 750, the Amended FY 2016 budget, recognizes $1.1 billion in additional revenue or 5.3 percent over the original FY 2016 budget. This includes $758 million in new revenue for transportation that was a result of HB 170 (2015 Session) that was not included in the base budget. This brings the total appropriation for Amended FY 2016 to $22.9 billion.

Bill Summary: HB 228 clarifies that in all counties where the sheriff is paid on salary alone, the fees for sheriff's services allowed under Code Section 15-16-21 must be remitted to the county treasurer or fiscal officer.

Contracts and marriage; change provisions relating to agreements required to be in writing; provisions
Bill Summary: House Bill 405 amends Title 19 to create uniformity between contracts made in contemplation of marriage and contracts made in contemplation of divorce (prenuptial agreements). The bill requires prenuptial agreements to be in writing and attested to by at least two witnesses, one of whom must be a notary. Currently, only marriage contracts have these requirements. The bill also removes the antiquated term "marriage articles" from the Code.
