- BILL SUMMARY: HB 351 amends language pertaining to fines and fees collected for the Judges of the Probate Courts Retirement Fund of Georgia. Under this legislation, the judge or clerk of the court would collect $3.00 for each criminal or quasi-criminal case that is heard before a judge of a probate court or state court created on or after July 1, 2011. Previously, the amount collected was based on a scale but was not to exceed $2.50. This is a nonfiscal retirement bill. - Authored By: Rep. HB 542 - Employees' Retirement System of Georgia; transfer service credit; provide
- BILL SUMMARY: HB542 provides that any member of the Employees Retirement System (ERS) who was previously a member of the Judicial Retirement System (JRS) may elect to have all contributions made by the employer and the employee transferred to ERS. Notification must be made to the board of trustees by December 31, 2012. The member shall receive creditable service, not to exceed the actual years of prior service, based on the actual amount transferred or paid so as not to create any liability on the retirement system.

HB 635 - Macon Water Commissioners - Pension Plan; change provisions
- BILL SUMMARY: HB 635 amends provisions relating to the Macon Water Commissioners Pension Plan. This bill excludes individuals whose hire date is on or after July 1, 2012 and it gives existing participants the ability to participate in a new plan established by the Board. The bill also changes the definition of "final average monthly compensation" used to calculate benefits and it amends the definition of "disability" to exclude disabilities that are self-inflicted or that occurred while committing a crime.
