- BILL SUMMARY: This legislation amends Code Section 45-18-9 relating to the right of continuation of health coverage for a spouse or dependent of a deceased public employee. The surviving spouse and dependents of a state employee killed while acting in the scope of his or her employment shall be entitled to continue coverage under the health insurance plan as long as they agree to pay contributions at the same rate required for state employees. - Authored By: Rep. - BILL SUMMARY: This bill allows local school systems to use first-class mail as an option to certified mail for notifying the parent, guardian, or person in control of any student ages six to sixteen with five or more unexcused absences. It further replaces the requirement for the mailing to include information on the penalties for failure to comply with a statement of attendance requirements. - Authored By: Rep.
