COMMITTEE ACTION REPORT
Information and Audits
HB 831 - State auditor; certain state or local government entities' failure to perform audits required by law; provide for effects
- BILL SUMMARY: House Bill 831 deals with government entities that do not complete audits in a timely matter. The state auditor has the authority to give written notice to a government entity that has not completed their audit. If the entity has not complied within 12 months of receiving the notice, the state auditor will provide notice of their noncompliance to the Office of Planning and Budget or in some cases the Department of Community Affairs. Noncompliance will make it so the state entity will not be able to draw upon state treasury or grant of state funds. If the elected official, responsible for compliance, does not comply within 24 months, they will be deemed unable to perform the duties of the offices purpose. - Authored By: Rep. Chuck Sims of the 169th - Committee Action: Do Pass
