HB 651 - Sexual offenders; information to schools on accessing registry; revise certain provisions
- BILL SUMMARY: Under the current provision, the Department of Education obtains a complete list of names and addresses of registered sex offenders and then sends that list to each school within the state. This currently costs the State over $7,000 to burn the CDs and mail them. This does not include time spent by employees to prepare the information.
With this bill, the Department of Education will provide access to that information when requested by schools. An example would be through a website or by other electronic means. - Authored By: Rep.
