HB 158 - Parent and child; legitimation; clarify methods; change provisions
- BILL SUMMARY: Bill amends O.C.G.A 19-7-21.1 so as to create a procedure for voluntary legitimation of a child. The Bill also goes throughout the rest of the code and references the newly created procedure for legitimation of a child. The bill limits the timeframe in which voluntary legitimation can occur down to one year. - Authored By: Rep. HB 209 - Employees' Retirement System; narcotics agents; purchase prior service
- BILL SUMMARY: This bill amends provisions relating to creditable service in the Employees' Retirement System. It extends the deadline for members to purchase creditable service for prior service as a narcotics agent under the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at the full actuarial cost to the member. HB 297 - Recreational vehicle dealers; conventions; provide certain exemptions
- BILL SUMMARY: Currently, it is unlawful for any dealer to sell or distribute any new recreational vehicle in Georgia unless the dealer has a franchise dealership agreement with a grantor with the express right to sell or distribute recreational vehicles in Georgia and meets certain requirements and definitions. This bill would allow dealers from outside Georgia to sell or distribute recreational vehicles at certain conventions or rallies involving more than 2500 recreational vehicles which are registered with the sponsor of such an event. In cases where a manufacturer intends to participate by inviting an out-of-state dealer to attend the convention or rally, that manufacturer must also invite all franchise Georgia dealers to said event. - The floor substitute also stiplulates that a charge of $500 be applied to out of state dealers for admission to rally. - Authored By: Rep. - BILL SUMMARY: This bill amends Chapter 10 of Title 43 relating to cosmetologists. This legislation: Adds provisions relating to the certificate of registration for master estheticians and wax technicians as well as adds further standards for the practice of estheticians and wax technitiams. Allows certificates of registration to be issued to master estheticians and wax technicians from other states under certain circumstances. Amends provisions relating to barbers, so as to provide that a barber shop may employ a master esthetician or wax technician without it being required to be licensed as a cosmetology shop or salon. HB 922 - Deceptive business practices; committing the offense; provide additional methods
- BILL SUMMARY: Adds a new crime in the Code section related to the obstruction of public administration to provide that a person commits the offense of avoiding public contracting safeguards when he or she solicits, authorizes or awards one contract within one year after the same county or municipality awarded another contract to the same vendor for the same goods or services where the value of each separate contract would not require approval, but if awarded as one contract the contracts together would require approval through a formal bid process.
Similar goods must serve the same function in order to be considered "similar" for purposes of the law.
The punishment for a first offense would be a misdemeanor, for a second or subsequent offense would be a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature.
The substitute provides a carve-out exception for those contracts that are competitively bid in compliance with a county or municipality's competitive bid procedures. The Code section will not apply to actions approved by the governing authority, actions which are of a clerical or administrative nature or actions taken on an emergency basis. - Authored By: Rep.
