Speaker Richardson Announces Changes In Communications Department
Michelle Hitt Grasso to serve as House Media Relations Director; Clelia Davis to serve as Speaker's Communications Director
ATLANTA, GA Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) announced today that Communications Director Michelle Hitt Grasso will be leaving his office to serve the Georgia House of Representatives as Director of House Media Relations. Clelia Davis, Communications Director for the Georgia Republican Party, will replace Grasso as Communications Director beginning on Friday, December 1, 2006.
"Michelle has been a team player and an invaluable member of my staff. She has a bright future ahead of her, and I'm pleased that she will still be serving the House in her new role," said Richardson.
Prior to joining the Speaker's staff in 2004, Grasso served as Press Secretary for Senator Saxby Chambliss for three years and Communications Director for Chambliss' 2002 successful senate campaign. She also served as Assistant Press Secretary for Republican Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe and Southeast Regional Media Relations Director for AT&T. Grasso is from Savannah, Georgia, and a graduate of Mercer University.
"Clelia is talented and hard-working and has served the Republican Party well. She will be an asset to me and the other members of the House. We look forward to having her on board," Richardson said.
Davis served as Communications Director for the Georgia Republican Party during the 2006 election cycle. Prior to that, she worked for the Republican Governors Association in Washington, DC. Davis is from Jacksonville, Fla. and is a graduate of Auburn University.
