State Representative Jim Cole Appointed Secretary of House Higher Education Committee
Atlanta - House Speaker Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) announced the appointment of State Representative Jim Cole (R-Forsyth) as Secretary to the Higher Education Committee. The committee works with legislation pertaining to Georgia's colleges, universities and other continuing education facilities.

"I am honored that the Speaker would consider me for service on the Higher Education Committee. I look forward to working with Chairman Hembree on the important issues facing our educational institutions," said Rep.Cole.

Rep. Cole's appointment was due to changes in the composition of the House membership because of the acceptance of Rep. Phyllis Miller's resignation from the House to take a judicial appointment, the death of Rep. Henry Howard, and the subsequent elections of Representativeselect Melvin Everson and Earnestine Howard to fill their seats.

Rep. Cole will also continue his service on the Natural Resources & Environment, Public Safety and State Institutions & Properties committees, the later of which he serves as Vice Chair.
