NEAL LENDS A HAND IN LOCAL RELIEF EFFORT

Members joined `Hosea's Feed the Hungry and Homeless ATLANTA While in town for last week's Special Session of the General Assembly, State Representative Jay Neal (R-Lafayette) and several other house members lent some helping hands to Hosea's Feed the Hungry Effort. After a long morning of debate, a group of legislators headed over to the Relief to offer not only supplies, but also several hours of volunteer work.

"When you consider the devastating loss suffered by our friends along the Gulf Coast, the best we can do still seems inadequate. However, as I worked along side more than 200 volunteers at Hosea and saw all the items and food that had been donated, I was reminded of what makes America a great country. You can always count on Americans to step up and give of their time, talent, and treasure to help wherever there is a need. I am especially proud of the response of my fellow Georgians," Representative Neal remarked.

Hosea's Feed the Hungry and Homeless is providing a number of things all in one place: clothing and shoes for all ages, phone and gas cards, food boxes that will provide for families for two weeks, health care volunteers are providing medical attention, access to some private housing from people who are opening up their homes to evacuees, providing hotel stays from one week to 30 days, crisis counseling and intervention, and money to fly children to their families.

"Our prayers and thoughts are with the people of the Gulf Coast as they begin to put their lives back together", Representative Neal added.
