WALKER NAMED CHAIR OF HUMAN SERVICES AND AGING COMMITTEE
Atlanta State Representative Len Walker, R-Loganville, has been named chairman of the House Human Services and Aging Committee. The appointment was made by the House Committee on Assignments which was formed by House Speaker Glenn Richardson, R-Dallas.
"I have a lot of faith in Representative Walker to lead by example and to make the tough decisions when it comes to steering the course of Georgia's future," said Speaker Richardson. "He has many years of faithful service to the state and I have every confidence in his ability to represent the interests of all Georgians."
34 separate standing committees consider by subject area the thousands of bills and resolutions which are introduced each year and range from topics including state budgeting, the courts, public health and taxation.
The Human Relations and Aging Committee oversees legislation which deals with domestic concerns and issues affecting the elderly.
"I am honored by this appointment," said Rep. Walker. "I look forward to serving the people of Georgia in this new capacity."
