Reece to Hold Methamphetamine Study Committee Meeting
Public Encouraged to Attend
Atlanta-- Representative Barbara Massey Reece (D-Menlo) will be holding the first Methamphetamine Study Committee meeting on Wednesday, June 30th at the Chattooga County Civic Center in Summerville, GA from 10:00 A.M. - 2:30 P.M. Rep. Reece chairs the Study Committee which includes Representatives Mike Snow (D-Chickamauga), Curtis Jenkins (D-Forsyth), David Graves (R-Macon) and Howard Mosby (D-Stone Mountain).

"Agencies, departments, groups and individuals are invited to participate in this public hearing on the Methamphetamine problem in Northwest Georgia," said Reece. "If you are a concerned about this devastating drug problem, I encourage you to attend the meeting and inform other groups in your area who may be interested."

The committee will be looking for information in the following areas:

C

extent of the meth problem

C

access to ingredients for manufacturing

C

local initiatives to combat meth

C

suggestions to improve support from state departments

C

clean up of meth sites/registration of site

C

effects on others residing near or entering site

C

prevention ideas

C

possible legislation needed

Those who are planing to provide information/comments to the committee are asked to have 6 copies of the pertinent points of their presentation. (If this is a problem, copies can be made at the premesis.) They are also asked to keep there presentation to 15 minutes or less so everyone can be heard.
