Representative Mosley Announces Road Funding gets Green Light
Expansion of Highway Expected to be Economic Development Tool
Atlanta Representative Hinson Mosley (D-Jesup), announces the Departments of Transportation has included in a bond package $6 million for right of way purchase for Highway 84 beginning in fiscal year 2005 which starts this July 1st , along with $11 million for the construction phase of Hwy 84 beginning in fiscal year 2006 which starts July 1st 2005.
The funding was first approved by the House Economic Development Sub-Committee of Appropriation which oversees Transportation monies that are included in the final spending plan adopted by the General Assembly. Rep. Mosley is a member of the Sub-Committee.
"This expansion of Hwy 84 will be a great economic development tool that will allow goods to be transported easily from inland counties in Southeast Georgia such as Brantley, Pierce, Wayne, and others to our ports in Savannah and Brunswick. Companies will see this as a great asset when determining an area to relocate," said Mosley. "I am proud to be a member of the team that was able to get this done."
Rep. Mosley, a lawmaker since 1992, is Vice Chairman of the Transportation and the Human Relations and Aging Committees and serves on the Appropriations and Special Rules committees.
