Mobley to Retire from General Assembly

Atlanta State Representative Barbara Mobley (D-Decatur) announces her retirement from the legislature after her term is up this year. A twelve year veteran of the House of Representatives, she has championed many issues throughout here career such as leading the fight to reduce cell phone use while driving and pushing for more awareness of the potential dangers and warning signs of strokes.

This year she sponsored HB 1424 which made it illegal to send out unsolicited bulk emails. The legislation passed the House overwhelmingly but did not make it out of the Senate before the end of the session.

"Having the opportunity to represent my district in General Assembly has been a wonderful experience and I have been honored by the amount of confidence my constituents have afforded me over these last 12 years," said Mobley. "I have met so many good people serving as state representative and I consider myself blessed."

Rep. Mobley, a lawmaker since 1992, chairs the Ethics Committee and serves on the Judiciary, Special Judiciary and Public Safety committees.
