Mobley Reappointed to Judicial Commissions
Atlanta The Georgia Supreme Court has re-appointed Representative Barbara Mobley (D-
Decatur) to serve on two state judicial commissions. The appointments are to the Court's
Commission on Access and Fairness in the Courts, and the Court's Unlicenced Practice of Law Committee for the 4th Administrative District (Dekalb County).
Rep. Mobley received notification of the appointments in a pair of letters from Supreme Court Justice Carol W. Hunstein, who thanked Mobley for the "great job" she has done, and encouraged her to "Keep up the good work!"
"I am honored by the appointments, and humbled by Justice Hunsten's kind words," said Rep. Mobley. "It is my desire to live up to those words by continuing to be a tireless advocate of fairness and access in Georgia's Judicial System."
The Unlicenced Practice of Law Committee was formed to root out and stop unlicenced legal practitioners from preying upon persons needing professional legal assistance.
"It's sad because bankrupt, low-income, immigrant, and unsuspecting desperate Georgians are oftentimes victims, and when they come into contact with unlicenced legal practitioners they are victimized all over again," said Rep. Mobley. "Such acts are despicable, and I will always strive to stamp out this unscrupulous, and predatory practice."
The Commission on Access and Fairness in the Courts is concerned with fair legal, racial, ethnic, gender, national origin, economic, and physical access to all of Georgia's Courts.
"The only way we can uphold the integrity and greatness of our legal system is by ensuring that justice belongs to every man, woman and child," said Mobley, "And that begins with access."
Rep. Mobley, a lawmaker since 1992, chairs the House Ethics Committee and serves on the House Judiciary, Special Judiciary and Public Safety committees.
