Maddox Brings Home Funding
Almost $64 million headed to Dekalb County
AtlantaState Representative George Maddox, D-Dekalb County, announces funding dedicated for projects in Dekalb County that will benefit university students and transportation. The monies are appropriated in the spending plan for the 05 fiscal year which begins July 1st.
$7.8 million was earmarked for Dekalb Perimeter College to construct a new student center and $3.8 million will go to design an electrical system for the Clarkston Campus of the college.
As far as transportation, $2 million will go towards MARTA and, in total, the county will receive $48 million in road and bridge projects under the Department of Transportation's portion of the budget.
"I am glad to of been a part of helping secure this needed funding for Dekalb county. It was a tight budget year but our county fared well considering the revenue shortfall we faced this past session," said Rep. Maddox. "I would like to thank all of those involved in the process for their hard work."
Rep. Maddox, a lawmaker since 1996, chairs the MARTOC Committee which oversees MARTA and serves on the Appropriations, Insurance and Industrial Relations committees.
