MITCHELL NAMED TO PARKS OVERVIEW COMMITTEE
(ATLANTA) Rep. Billy Mitchell, (D-Stone Mountain) has been named by Speaker Terry Coleman (D-Eastman) to the Recreational Authorities Overview Committee. The committee was established to work with the state's various parks.
Among the committee's duties will be to identify ways by which the state can promote the use of the state's various park facilities by its citizens. Committee members will also search out ways to improve park accessibility while maintaining preservation and quality of those areas.
"We've got to strive for a balance," said Mitchell, "between promoting our wonderful outdoor facilities and expanding these facilities to their detriment."
The committee will be comprised of six members of the General Assembly, three from each house, and will serve a two-year term.
"I am honored to have been asked serve in this capacity," concluded Rep. Mitchell.
Rep. Mitchell serves as Secretary for the House Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committee. He also serves on the Health and Human Services, and State Planning and Community Affairs Committees.
