Local Lawmakers Secure Funding for New Lake Park
Should be a splash for the community

Atlanta - State Representative Wallace Sholar, D-Cairo, and State Rep. Hugh Broome, DDonalsonville, have helped secure $10.5 million for the design and construction of the Tired Creek Lake Park in Grady County. The funding for the new park is in the House's 2004 amended budget, which is a revised spending plan for the current fiscal year that ends June 30th.

"This new lake park will be a wonderful addition for our community and I would like to thank House Speaker Coleman for his support as well as other members of the legislature," said Rep. Sholar. "I will do all I can to make sure this funding stays in tact through the legislative process."

According to Rep. Broome, "A new lake park would be great for our area and the Speaker of the House has helped us tremendously with our efforts. Rep. Sholar and I will do all we can to make sure we get this approved during the session."

The 2004 amended budget has passed the House and is in the Senate awaiting approval.

Rep. Sholar is Vice-Chair of the State Institutions and Property Committee and serves on the State Planning and Community Affairs and Ways and means committees.

Rep. Broome is Vice-Chair of the Game Fish and Parks Committee and serves on the Natural Resources and Environment and retirement committees.
