Buckner to Conduct Public Meeting with DHR

Atlanta State Representative Gail Buckner, D-Jonesboro, will be chairing an informational meeting with the Department of Human Resources on January 6th beginning at 10 A.M. in room 230 of the State Capitol. The meeting is being held to receive updates on the progress of DHR's efforts to provide a functional, credible computer tracking system of children in the state's custody.
The Human Services Sub-Committee of the Appropriations Committee, which Buckner chairs, has spent extensive time reviewing the status of this computer system. Over $40 million has been spent on upgrading the system for tracking children in the state's custody. "Unfortunately, we have seen that it can be a life or death issue in keeping track of the children. As lawmakers, we hope to hear good news from the DHR, and that there have been significant advancements in establishing a credible and effective computer system," said Representative Buckner.
Representative Buckner, a legislator since 1990, also serves on the Higher Education and Economic Development and Tourism Committees. She also currently presides over the Administrative Services Committee as Chairperson.
