Ralph Twiggs Memorial Service Planned

Atlanta A memorial service has been planned for the late Ralph Twiggs on Wednesday, January 28th in the House chamber at 1:25 pm. The former representative was 75 when he passed away on September 18th after being admitted to the M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. The 30 year veteran Hiawassee legislator had been battling cancer for one year and died of pneumonia. He was survived by 3 grandchildren 1 son and 2 daughters.
The Towns county native was the past Chairman of the House Transportation Committee.
"Ralph will be missed," said House Speaker Terry Coleman. "He loved his family and he loved Georgia and was a very dedicated legislator. This memorial service will give his dear friends who served with him and could not attend his funeral a chance to pay their respects."
An active member of the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, a Mason and Shriner, Rep. Twiggs graduated from the Southern College of Pharmacy after attending Towns and Union County public schools. A respected member of the Georgia House since 1973, Twiggs represented Towns, Union, Rabun, and part of White counties.
