PARRISH ATTENDS TRADE CENTER FOR AMERICAS MEETING Aim Is To Make Atlanta Headquarters For Hemispheric Trade
State Rep. Butch Parrish, D-Swainsboro, met recently with Governor Sonny Perdue and other members of a special advisory council working to make Atlanta the trade headquarters for trade and investment between North and South America.
In a statement by the Governor, the goal of the council is to "implement policies and execute strategies for success in a quest for Atlanta to become the trade headquarters of the hemisphere and the center of gravity for trade, commerce, investment, and tourism throughout the America's."
"Achieving this would be good for every corner of the state," Parrish said. "Every sector of Georgia's economy would benefit from Atlanta's being a hemispheric trade center."
Parrish chairs the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee and serves on the budget-writing Appropriations and Rules committees.
Dubbed "Atlanta Georgia -- Gateway To The America's", the enterprise envisions an ambitious plan to promote economic enterprise throughout the America's.
The Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism is assisting the council.
