Noel to Speak at "Take Back Our Community" Rally
Atlanta- Representative John Noel (D-Atlanta) will participate in a prayer march and rally on Saturday, March 12, 2003, in the Northwest Atlanta Communities of Riverside and Browntown. The event is designed as a community call to action to address the blights of alcoholism, drug addiction, and prostitution. Noel, who represents a portion of the district, will also speak at the rally directly following the march.
Marchers will meet at 9:00 AM at the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church at 1730 Hollywood Road. There they will be split into three groups coinciding with the three main roads in the community which are Hollywood Road, Perry Boulevard, and Browntown Road. Beginning at 10:00 AM, each group will march down one of the roads with all groups converging upon the Hollywood Plaza.
A rally will follow at 11:00 AM in the Hollywood Plaza which will feature addresses by various elected officials.
"I want to thank Rev. Arthur Carson, and the other community pastors for organizing this march and for asking me to speak at the rally," said Noel. "Alcoholism, drugs, prostitution, these are serious concerns for the many good, law abiding citizens of this district. I am always encouraged when citizens get involved in making their communities a better place, and I look forward to working with them to solve the problems of our community."
