BORDEAUX NAMED TO CODE REVISION PANEL
State Rep. Tom Bordeaux, D-Savannah, has been appointed to the Code Revision Commission.
Bordeaux was named to the post by House Speaker Terry Coleman, D-Eastman.
"Obviously it's important to make sure that Georgia's code of laws is accurate and precise, and that it's in the format that's easiest to use. I look forward this assignment," Bordeaux said.
The Code Revision Commission, which is composed of fifteen members, is the official overseer of Georgia's legal code.
Members of the panel include the Speaker of the House of Representative and four appointees from the House.
The Lieutenant Governor also serves on the commission with four of his appointees.
Five additional members are selected by the State Bar President
As new laws are enacted, the panel decides when a new code book should be compiled.
Additionally, the commission ensures that the code is published correctly and determines how much is charged for the book.
Bordeaux, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee also serves on the Rules, Ethics and Industrial Relations committees.
