Ray to Promote Southern Farm and Food Products Abroad Stops Include Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica
Atlanta - State Representative Robert Ray, D-Fort Valley, has been asked by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), which is funding the marketing mission, to help promote southern farm and food products in the Central American Countries of Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica.
The informative trip has been scheduled through the Southern United States Trade Association from June 8th to the 17th. Ray will be joined by leaders from the food
and agri-business industry.
Planned activities include demonstrations by professional chefs for leading decision makers in the food service industries. Buyers from prominent Central American distributors, restaurant chains and importers will get a taste of southern cooking in each capital city over the span of a week.
"Central America's proximity to the mainland of the United States and expanding tourism industry make it a potential gold mine for Georgia's producers and exporters," said Ray. "We need to capitalize on those markets."
Ray, who is a farmer and has been a lawmaker since 1982, chairs the House Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee and is a member of the House Appropriations and House Rules Committees.
