SKIPPER NAMED TO CODE REVISION PANEL
House Majority Leader Jimmy Skipper, D-Americus, has been appointed to the Code Revision Commission.
Skipper was named to the post by House Speaker Terry Coleman, D-Eastman.
"Making sure Georgia's code is precise and accurate is an important job," Skipper said. "We will be reviewing it in careful detail and I look forward to the assignment."
The Code Revision Commission, which is composed of fifteen members, is the official overseer of Georgia's legal code.
Members of the panel include the Speaker of the House of Representative and four appointees from the House.
The Lieutenant Governor also serves on the commission with four of his appointees.
Five additional members are selected by the State Bar President
As new laws are enacted, the panel decides when a new code book should be compiled.
Additionally, the commission ensures that the code is published correctly and determines how much is charged for the book.
Skipper, who serves on budget-writing the Appropriations Committee also serves on the Ethics, Policy, Public Utilities and Telecommunications and Rules committees.
