OLIVER NAMED SUB-COMMITTEE CHAIR AS FRESHMAN
State Rep. Bert Oliver, D-Glennville, has been named Sub-Committee Chairman of the House State Planning and Community Affairs Sub-Committee on Regional Development Centers and Regional Development Authorities. This is an appointment normally reserved for members with sonority.
The committee system enables lawmakers to break legislation down by subject area in order to review and study proposed changes to state law. Within each committee, several sub-committees are established in specific areas of expertise so that all bills and resolutions is assured of a fair hearing.
"I am very grateful to Chairman Tommy Smith for this appointment," said Oliver. "It is my intention to use this opportunity to work, and to learn as much as possible about the RDCs and RDAs so that I may apply that knowledge to best serve the citizens of the 121st district."
Oliver serves on the Banks and Banking, and State Planning and Community Affairs committees. He also serves as Secretary of the House Agriculture Committee.
