November 7, 2003

Atlanta Representative Lynn Smith, R-Coweta, has been appointed to a Sub-Committee on Sandy Springs, which is an area north of Atlanta that wants to become a city.
The appointment was made by Rep. Tommy Smith, D-Nicholls, Chairman of the House State Planning and Community Affairs Committee. Members will address legislation granting the densely populated region a new city charter.
"Rep. Smith has an excellent understanding of the local legislative process and a keen awareness of what is necessary to be a municipality in Georgia, which made this an easy appointment," said Rep. Smith. "Her demonstrated ability and leadership will contribute greatly to the effectiveness of this committee."
Rep. Smith serves on the Appropriations, Natural Resources & Environment, and State Planning and Community Affairs committees.
