Atlanta - State Representative Doug Stoner, D-Smyrna, expressed his pleasure over more than $100,000 in state grants which were recently awarded to various programs in Cobb County.

"With Georgia in such tight financial times, this is absolutely great," said Rep. Stoner. "I want to thank Governor Perdue, and the Georgia Council for the Arts for approving these awards."

The money was awarded by the Georgia Council for the Arts, and will come in the form of ten separate contracts for services with nine different organizations within the county. The money from these awards must be spent within the fiscal year, and proceeds must go toward the programs specified in the organization's grant application.

The awards are as follows:

"One of the great things about Cobb County is our quality of life, and these artistic projects are a big part of the overall package that makes us one of the most sought after addresses in the state," continued Stoner. "These grants are a welcome indicator that state government recognizes that, and wants to encourage this kind of community enrichment."

Rep. Stoner is Secretary of the Governmental Affairs Committee and also serves on the Banks and Banking and Public Utilities and Telecommunications Committees.
