Fludd Tapped to Lead Fayette County Delegation

Atlanta State Representative Virgil Fludd (D-Fayetteville) has been elected chairman of the Fayette County Delegation.

Along with Rep. Fludd are nine other members which include Senator Mike Crotts (R-Conyers), Senator Mitch Seabaugh (R-Sharpsburg), Senator Valencia Seay (D-College Park), Representative John Lunsford (R-McDonough), John Yates (R- Griffin), Sharon Beasley Teague (D-Red Oak), Joe Heckstall (D-East Point), Lynn Westmoreland (R-Sharpsburg) and Bob Holmes (D-Atlanta).

The delegation handles mostly local legislation so that local issues don't tie up the general assembly's agenda. Changes to city and county charters, local appointments and referendums are routed through delegations. If approved by the local delegation, the Legislature usually follows suit.

"I am honored to have been chosen as chairman of the delegation," said Fludd. "I understand this important role to represent the interests of the citizens of Fayette County and am looking forward to working with the other members of the delegation. I am extremely pleased to have gotten their support at such an early stage in my political career."
