BUCK TAPPED TO HEAD HOUSE BUDGET WRITING COMMITTEE

Atlanta State Representative Tom Buck (D-Columbus) has been appointed as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee by House Speaker Terry Coleman (D-Eastman) who formerly held the post.

Rep. Buck will be responsible for chairing a powerful committee that oversees state spending and the policy and priorities of the state's various agencies and departments. Also, all fiscal related matters must originate in the House, making it the first stop for the Governor's proposed budget.

"These are tough economic times and I will work to ensure that the state's spending priorities are the best for Georgia," Rep. Buck said. "I am very humbled by my appointment and look forward

Rep. Buck is a former Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and was first elected to the House in 1966, and sworn into office in 1967.
