The seventh day of the 2008 legislative session was called to order by Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.
Senator Don Balfour of the 9th stated that the journal had been read and was found to be correct.
Senate Bills 367-372, Senate Resolutions 748, 750 and 753, and House Bills 301, 932936, 944 and 1022 were read for the first time and assigned to committees.
After the morning roll call, Lt. Gov. Cagle asked the Senate to pause for a moment of silence and prayer for Mrs. Emma Jean Thomas, wife of Sen. Don Thomas of the 54th.
Sen. John Wiles of the 37th led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. He then introduced the Chaplain of the Day, Reverend Mike Linch of Northstar Church in Kennesaw, who led the Senate in the daily devotional.
Sen. Dan Moody of the 56th took the rostrum to introduce the Doctor of the Day, Dr. Earl Grubbs of Johns Creek.
SR 736-747, 749, 751, 752 and 754-761 were read and adopted.
Sen. George Hooks of the 14th took the rostrum to recognize Kameron Paige of the Children's Miracle Network.
Sen. Steve Thompson of the 33rd moved that the Senate adopt SR 754, recognizing the work of Mr. Paige and the Children's Miracle Network, by roll call vote. There was no objection.
SR 754 was adopted by a vote of 47 to 0.

Sergeant-at-Arms Lorenzo Wallace then escorted Senators Cecil Staton of the 18th, Ross Tolleson of the 20th and their guests, the Warner Robins Little League World Series Champions of 2007, to the rostrum. The clerk read a resolution honoring the team, and Sens. Staton and Tolleson spoke to the resolution.
SR 734, honoring Ms. Linda Williams as the 2007 Georgia Professor of the Year, was read and adopted.
Sen. Chip Pearson of the 51st took the well to commend Ms. Williams and announce that today is Tourism Day at the Capitol.
The clerk read SR 760, declaring today as Veterinarian's Day at the Capitol. Sen. John Bulloch of the 11th took the well to speak to the resolution. He recognized a group of Georgia veterinarians seated in the Senate gallery. Following the announcements, Majority Leader Tommie Williams of the 19th moved the Senate stand adjourned until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30.
