The eleventh day of the 2007 legislative session was called to order by Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.
Senator Don Thomas of the 54th stated that the journal had been read and was found to be correct.
Senate Bills 76-83 and Senate Resolution 104 were read for the first time and assigned to committees. The clerk of the Secretary then read the reports of standing committees and second readers.
Following the morning roll call, Lt. Gov. Cagle recognized Sen. Jack Murphy of the 27th, who took the rostrum to lead the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Sen. Murphy then introduced the Chaplain of the Day, Pastor Robert Jolly of First Baptist Church in Cumming, who led the Senate in the daily devotional.
Sen. Valencia Seay of the 34th then took the well on a Point of Personal Privilege to thank those Senators who are acknowledging the American Heart Association's nationwide Go Red for Women movement today.
Lt. Gov. Cagle recognized Sen. Regina Thomas of the 2nd, who took the well on a Point of Personal Privilege to ask all Senators to sign a resolution that urges Georgia counties to reduce underage drinking.
Sen. Renee Unterman of the 45th took the well on a Point of Personal Privilege to present the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren bill, which would grant power of attorney to grandparents who are raising their children.

Sen. John Bulloch of the 11th took the well on a Point of Personal Privilege to remind Senators that today is Farm Bureau Day at the Capitol, and invited them to the Georgia Train Depot for lunch, hosted by the Georgia Farm Bureau.
Sen. Seth Harp of the 29th took the well on a Point of Personal Privilege to invite Senators to the Taste of Technical Colleges at the Georgia Train Depot tonight.
Sergeant-at-Arms Lorenzo Wallace then escorted Sen. Jeff Mullis of the 53rd and his guest, Phillip Jennings III, to the rostrum.
The Secretary read SR 75, which recognizes Phillip Jennings Turf Farms, the state's largest producer and the world's largest exporter of turfgrass, owned by Mr. Jennings. Sen. Mullis took the rostrum to announce Turf Farms will be supplying the grass at the Super Bowl XLI in Miami this year.
Sergeant-at-Arms Wallace then escorted Sen. Bulloch and his guest, Vincent "Zippy" Duvall, president of the Georgia Farm Bureau, to the rostrum.
The Secretary read SR 117, which recognizes and commends the Georgia Farm Bureau. Sen. Bulloch took the rostrum to recognize the new president of the bureau and presented him with the resolution.
Lt. Gov. Cagle recognized former Sen. Ed Zipper of Chatham County.
SR 105-116 and 118-122 were read and adopted.
The Secretary then read SB 14, which would extend the sunset dates by two years for filing fees for superior court clerks. Sen. Chip Rogers of the 21st took the well to speak to the bill. He yielded to questions from Sen. Steve Thompson of the 33rd.
SB 14 passed by a vote of 51 to 0.
The Secretary read SR 126, which provides the adjournment and schedule for the period of February 2-12. Majority Leader Tommie Williams of the 19th took the well to present the resolution. He yielded to questions from Sen. Thomas of the 2nd.
SR 126 passed by a vote of 35 to 1.
Sen. Chip Pearson of the 51st announced from the Senate floor that today is Tourism Day at the Capitol, and moved to delay the ceremonial passing of the "tourism hat" until tomorrow.
Following the announcements, Majority Leader Williams moved that the Senate stand adjourned until 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 31.
